The Princess of Wales is temporarily swapping her demure dresses for military camo.
On Wednesday, November 8, Kate, aged 41, was captured on camera during her visit to Robertson Barracks in Norfolk, England. Interestingly, she sported a distinctively unconventional ensemble, deviating from her usual style. The Duchess appeared prepared for action, donning a camouflage jacket, vest, and helmet. In contrast, beneath the military gear, she gracefully paired a sleek monochromatic ensemble featuring a black turtleneck and black slacks.
In addition to her vest, the princess adorned herself with a red poppy, a venerable symbol dating back to 1921, to honor fallen soldiers. This practice, observed by Brits nationwide, extends to the royal family who wear this accessory throughout November in reverence of Remembrance Day, an annual event on November 11.
The princess's recent visit to the regiment serves as a poignant reminder that she was appointed as Colonel-in-Chief of 1st the Queen's Dragoon Guards (QDG) three months prior, a prestigious recognition bestowed upon her by King Charles in August.

The prestigious role was formerly filled by King Charles, Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother.
Kate engaged in various activities during the event, such as experiencing the thrill of riding a military tank and operating a drone under the guidance of a regiment officer. Additionally, she allocated a portion of her time to recognize and honor individuals within the regiment, bestowing awards such as long service and good conduct medals.
Furthermore, the event celebrated not only humans but also honored Trooper Longface Emrys Jones, a Bay Welsh mountain pony who has admirably fulfilled the role of the regiment's mascot since 2016. In a formal ceremony, Kate elevated his rank from "Lance Corporal" to "Corporal."
Afterwards, Kate replaced her military attire with a sleek black blazer adorned with gold buttons to gather with the families of the regiment’s members. Engaged and attentive, she absorbed the anecdotes and insights shared by family members, learning about the various forms of welfare support offered to them.

Kate has firsthand knowledge of being married to a military member, as her husband Prince William served in the Household Cavalry from 2006 to 2008. He later joined the RAF Search and Rescue Force in 2009 and served as a pilot in the East Anglian Air Ambulance from 2015 to 2017. Additionally, Kate possesses various military titles and often dresses in military-style attire for official royal visits.
In March 2023, she visited the 1st Battalion Irish Guards in Wiltshire, England, wearing a stylish ensemble consisting of a camouflage hooded jacket, an army green beanie, and green khaki slacks. As she was appointed the Colonel of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards in December 2022, it is exciting to anticipate seeing more of the Princess' fashionable camouflage outfits in the future.
