Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton are reportedly eager to reconnect with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to a royal author.
Author Tom Quinn, known for books like Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir From Queen Mary to Meghan Markle, shared that William and Kate have proposed a reunion where Meghan and Harry would bring their children to the U.K. for a chance for both families to reconcile. However, as of now, there has been no progress on this suggestion.
Quinn mentioned that Meghan, 42, has no plans to bring her children, son Archie, 4, and daughter Lilibet, 2, to the U.K. Meghan is married to Harry, 39, and they tied the knot in 2018.
In 2020, Harry and Meghan moved to the United States after resigning from their senior royal duties. Their departure led to strained relations with Kate, 42, and William, 41, due to their criticisms of royal life.
After the initial trailer for Harry and Megan’s Netflix documentary series was shown in December 2022, a source revealed to us that William and Kate were surprised by the preview. The insider shared, "It has added even more tension to relationships that were already fragile."
The relationship between the two couples worsened when Harry made some controversial statements about Kate and Meghan in his 2023 memoir, Spare. In the book, Harry mentioned that Kate and Meghan felt pressured to compete with each other and that Kate made Meghan cry over bridesmaids dresses before her wedding in 2018.
Harry also claimed that Kate and William suggested that he dress up in a Nazi uniform for a theme party in 2005.
When I called Willy and Kate to ask their opinion, they both said it looked like a Nazi uniform. I decided to rent it along with a silly mustache and tried it on back at the house. Their reaction was priceless," he mentioned.
Apart from the tension with William and Kate, Harry and Meghan have also been unable to visit the U.K. with their children due to security concerns. Harry has been involved in a lengthy legal struggle to ensure the safety of his family during visits to his homeland.
Harry's attorney, Shaheed Fatima, expressed concerns about his safety in the U.K. due to security measures implemented in June 2021. She emphasized his desire to return to see family, friends, and support his cherished charities, as the U.K. remains his home.
The U.K. High Court's ruling in February granted the government the authority to adjust police protection levels for a royal family member no longer engaged in official duties. Following this decision, Harry intends to challenge the ruling through an appeal process.
Harry and Meghan haven't visited the U.K. with both their children since June 2022 when they went to the late Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee. However, the visit wasn't a joyful family reunion.

According to royal expert Christopher Andersen, William and Kate did not make any effort to introduce their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, to their cousin Lilibet. During the visit, it is believed that they did not speak to each other.
The family estrangement between Harry and Meghan persisted when Kate was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. According to The Times of London, Harry and Meghan were not informed in advance about Kate's diagnosis. It is believed that Harry only found out about it from television, along with the rest of the public.
A Kensington Palace spokesman declined to comment on private conversations when asked for a statement.
Shortly after Kate announced her diagnosis in March, Harry and Meghan showed their support by releasing a statement.
“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the statement read.
Editor's P/S:
The rift between Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle continues to be a topic of intense public interest. Despite reported efforts by William and Kate to reconcile with Harry and Meghan, there has been little progress. Author Tom Quinn suggests that Meghan is reluctant to bring her children to the U.K. due to ongoing security concerns.
Harry's controversial memoir, "Spare," has further strained relations between the couples. Harry's allegations about Kate's behavior toward Meghan and his claim that William and Kate encouraged him to wear a Nazi uniform have deepened the divide. The situation is further complicated by Harry's ongoing legal battle to ensure security for his family during visits to the U.K. The lack of communication and support between the families is deeply concerning, especially in light of Kate's recent cancer diagnosis. It remains to be seen whether the wounds of the past can be healed and the relationships between these once-close family members can be restored.
