Pete Davidson, a highly acclaimed comedian, has a select few individuals who are part of his close circle of friends. Among them is Machine Gun Kelly, who first met Davidson in 2017 during a taping of Wild 'N Out. The two formed a strong bond while working together on the Netflix movie The Dirt, which was released in 2019.
According to the "Bad Things" singer, they were both avid marijuana users and shared a love for the same music while they were stuck in New Orleans. He referred to the actor as "my boy." In December 2018, after the actor posted a concerning message about his mental health following his breakup with Ariana Grande, Kelly immediately flew to see him, stating on Twitter that he couldn't let his friend stay in a dark place.
Davidson shares a close bond with comedian John Mulaney, a former SNL writer and five-time host of the show. In a touching "Weekend Update" segment in January 2019, the two friends opened up about their friendship. Mulaney, who had been sober for ten years, revealed that he had been spending time with Davidson in an effort to show him that it's possible to lead a life in comedy that doesn't involve chaos. Mulaney emphasized the importance of a sober and domestic lifestyle, though he himself later relapsed and entered rehab for drug and alcohol addiction in 2020.
The native of New York City responded by saying, “And I even went as far as publicly threatening suicide after observing John’s life,” referencing the Instagram post that prompted MGK to check on him. “I apologize for making light of it, but it's actually quite amusing.”
Mulaney later clarified that the two of them had come up with the segment idea prior to their joint comedy tour. “I express my love for him all the time,” the Dickinson graduate informed Esquire in September 2019. “Pete and I collaborated on that bit, but in my mind, I hoped it would be cathartic for him. However it came to be, I was grateful it existed.”
Davidson and Mulaney may have a close bond, but there is one activity they won't partake in together- getting tattoos. Davidson, who is known for his extensive ink, has advised his friend against following in his footsteps. During a joint Vanity Fair interview in June 2020, the Guy Code alum expressed his opinion on the matter, stating that he believes Mulaney is "too sweet and cool" and that getting tattoos would "devalue the product." Meet Pete Davidson's Inner Circle: Machine Gun Kelly, Kid Cudi and More
The king of Staten Island — and his courtiers. Pete Davidson is one of the most popular comedians working today, but only a few people have become part of his inner circle.
Machine Gun Kelly is among those who have formed a close bond with Pete Davidson. The two initially met during a Wild 'N Out taping in 2017 and further strengthened their friendship while filming The Dirt, a Netflix movie that debuted in 2019. As the "Bad Things" crooner revealed to Billboard in August 2018, the duo bonded over their shared love for music and marijuana while being stuck in New Orleans. "That's my boy," he added affectionately.
After his split from ex-fiancée Ariana Grande, the Set It Up actor posted a concerning message on social media regarding his mental health. Kelly immediately reached out to him and tweeted that she was flying out to see him to ensure he was doing okay. Davidson is also known to have a strong bond with fellow comedian John Mulaney, who has written for SNL and hosted the show five times. The two appeared on a heartfelt "Weekend Update" segment in January 2019 to discuss their friendship.
"I have been trying to show Pete that a career in comedy can still allow for a sober and domestic lifestyle," shared the Big Mouth actor, who had maintained sobriety for ten years. However, it is worth noting that Mulaney, who later suffered a relapse, sought treatment for drug and alcohol addiction in 2020. In response to John's lifestyle, the New York City native humorously remarked, "I joked about suicide on social media after observing John's life, but I do apologize for the inappropriate humor."
Mulaney and Davidson collaborated on the segment idea prior to their joint comedy tour, as Mulaney disclosed in an interview with Esquire in September 2019. Mulaney expressed his affection for Davidson, hoping that the comedic bit would be cathartic for him. Despite their close bond, Davidson advises against Mulaney getting tattoos, stating in a June 2020 Vanity Fair interview that it would diminish Mulaney's sweet and cool persona.
