Pete Davidson, a well-known actor in the casting industry, joined the movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts after the filming had wrapped up. Despite this, one creative individual believes that Davidson played a significant role in enhancing the movie. In the Hasbro film franchise, Davidson portrays Mirage, an Autobot spy who assumes the form of a silver-blue Porsche 964 Carrera RS 3.8 and possesses the ability to project holograms for the purpose of confusing his adversaries. Mirage serves as the character who introduces Anthony Ramos' human protagonist, Noah, to the Autobots' battle against the Terrorcons in order to prevent the destructive Unicron from coming to Earth and annihilating the planet.
During an exclusive conversation with Screen Rant regarding Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, James Madigan, the Second Unit Director, expressed his thoughts on Pete Davidson's casting in the new sequel. Madigan revealed that Davidson was brought on board after the completion of filming, and despite sharing certain similarities with the actor, Mirage's personality had already been established beforehand. Madigan believes that Davidson's involvement further enhanced the material. Read Madigan's statement below:
How Transformers 7 Continues Davidson's Rise To Stardom
What fascinated me was that Mirage's personality was already present before Pete Davidson was cast for the role. We actually filmed this two years ago, right? So when I read it on paper, it had that distinct personality...and then witnessing what Pete Davidson brought to it, it became that character and more. The fact that it blended so perfectly with the character and then took it to new heights only added to its appeal.
Since his introduction on Saturday Night Live, Davidson has risen to fame both in front of and away from the camera. Known for his rebellious nature and high-profile relationships, including his engagement to Ariana Grande, which influenced her popular song "Thank U, Next," Davidson has been linked to notable personalities like Kate Beckinsale, Phoebe Dynevor from Bridgerton, and Kim Kardashian.
Davidson experienced a series of successes in both film and television amidst the media frenzy surrounding his personal life. Notably, he co-wrote The King of Staten Island, a semi-autobiographical dramedy with Judd Apatow and Dave Sirus, drawing from the pain of losing his firefighter father during the 9/11 attacks. He also gained recognition for his roles in the horror-comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies and the Peacock show Bupkis, where he played a fictionalized version of himself and received a season 2 renewal.
Following his cameo appearances in popular blockbusters like The Suicide Squad, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Fast X, Davidson's involvement in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was highly anticipated. Rumors suggest that a Transformers 8 movie is in the works, with Steven Caple Jr., the director of Rise of the Beasts, onboard and the character Mirage set to return in the 2023 sequel. Fans of Davidson's portrayal of the Autobot spy can hope to see further exploration of his character in future films.
