Patrick Mahomes’ father, Pat Mahomes Sr., has been charged with driving while intoxicated. According to TMZ, the 53-year-old was formally charged by Texas prosecutors for felony DWI on Wednesday, April 3. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Pat was arrested in Tyler, Texas, in February for driving while intoxicated. He allegedly had an open container of alcohol in his car and admitted to drinking. A field sobriety test was done at the scene.

Pat was taken to Smith County Jail and had to pay $10,000 for bail. He was released on the same day.

Patrick provided an update on his father's arrest before the Super Bowl. He mentioned, "He’s doing good. I don’t really want to get into it too much, but he’s doing good for whatever the situation is." Patrick emphasized that it's a family matter and he prefers to keep it private. That's all he had to share on the topic.

Pat has been charged with driving while intoxicated six times. In 2018, he was charged twice for this offense. His fifth arrest in 2019 resulted in him serving jail time. Pat completed a 40-day sentence through a weekend work release program.

Pat, who played in the major league baseball from 1992 to 2003, shares Patrick and son Jackson Mahomes with his ex-wife Randi Martin, whom he divorced in 2006. He is also the father of Zoe Mahomes and Graham Walker. Randi is also the mother of Mia Randall.

During an appearance on the Greeny Show, just two days before his arrest, Pat mentioned that whether his eldest son is the best quarterback of all time is "still to be determined."

Pat shared, "He still has room for improvement. I have great respect for Tom Brady and I was a fan of Joe Montana growing up, along with other quarterbacks like them. [Patrick] is heading in the right direction, but at this point, I still believe those veteran quarterbacks are more accomplished."

Since taking over as the Chiefs' starting quarterback in 2018, Patrick has already played in four Super Bowls within six seasons. He secured the championship title in 2020 and 2023.
