Prior to the Summit War of Marineford in One Piece, Oda introduced the Worst Generation, a group of twelve notorious pirates. Kidd was one of them, renowned for his brutality, rough nature, and love for violence.
After the two-year timeskip in the manga, several new character designs were revealed. Kidd was one of those who underwent a significant transformation, sporting a rugged appearance with numerous scars on his face and body, and missing his left arm. His changed look hinted at a tumultuous past, leaving fans curious about how he lost his limb.

In One Piece chapter 928, Kidd clarified a rumor about losing his left arm in a fight with Big Mom and running away. He actually lost it battling the Red Hair Pirates, as confirmed by Killer in chapter 1076 when Kidd challenged them again. Surprisingly, Kidd didn't even fight Shanks himself but was defeated by one of Shanks' crew members.

The revelation about Kidd losing his arm in a confrontation with Benn Beckman, the first mate of the Red Hair Pirates, was officially disclosed in the SBS One Piece Manga vol 107.
Despite this setback, Kidd, using his Jiki Jiki no Mi Devil Fruit, which allows him to create magnetic fields to attract or repel metallic objects, was able to create a mechanical arm. This new arm not only serves as a replacement but also functions as a powerful weapon.

The recent encounter between the Kidd Pirates and Shanks at Elbaf proved to be a significant turning point in Kidd's pirate journey. It presented him with the perfect opportunity to not only avenge his lost limb but also to quickly gain immense fame in the pirate world.
When the two notorious one-armed pirates, although Kidd had a fully-functional mechanical arm, were anticipated to engage in a spectacular showdown, the outcome was surprising. Shanks managed to single-handedly knock Kidd out with just one blow, highlighting the stark power imbalance between the two pirates.

In contrast, Kidd's crew members quickly surrendered upon witnessing their captain's state, while Dorry and Brogy opted to divide their ship in a bold move. Looking back, it seems that Kidd would have been wiser to listen to Killer's counsel and steer clear of confrontation.
The defining characteristic of most Worst Generation pirates, such as Kidd, is their willingness to take on challenges that appear to be insurmountable. Much like Luffy, who constantly pushes himself to the brink and risks his life for victory, it's possible that Oda has something in store for Kidd in the future.
Editor's P/S
As an enthusiastic One Piece fan, I was intrigued by the revelation of Eustass Kidd's lost arm and the circumstances surrounding it. The fact that he didn't lose it in a fight with Big Mom, as rumored, but rather in a battle with Benn Beckman, the first mate of the Red Hair Pirates, adds a new layer of depth to his character. It's clear that Kidd is a formidable pirate, but the fact that he was defeated by one of Shanks' crew members highlights the immense power of the Red Hair Pirates.
I was also fascinated by Kidd's mechanical arm, which he created using his Jiki Jiki no Mi Devil Fruit. This not only serves as a replacement for his lost limb but also functions as a powerful weapon. It's a testament to Kidd's ingenuity and resourcefulness that he was able to turn his misfortune into an advantage. However, despite his new arm and his determination to avenge his loss, Kidd was still no match for Shanks in their recent encounter at Elbaf. This serves as a reminder of the vast power gap between the Worst Generation pirates and the likes of Shanks and his crew.
