Nick Viall believes that Daisy Kent should be chosen as the next Bachelorette, but he has a hunch as to why she may not be selected. During the "Viall Files" podcast on Thursday, March 21, Nick expressed his surprise that Daisy is not a contender for The Bachelorette. He mentioned his prediction that Maria Georgas will be chosen as the Bachelorette and Kelsey Anderson will win. Nick finds Maria entertaining and a great choice, but he believes Daisy has a compelling story that should not be overlooked.
Daisy, 25, is one of Joey Graziadei's final two women, along with Kelsey, 25. Fans have been following her journey on reality TV closely. Recently, an old video featuring Daisy as a featured artist in rapper Abe$'s "Sundown" music video from 2021 resurfaced on social media and caught the attention of viewers. Joey expressed concerns that this video may have jeopardized Daisy's chances in the competition. Daisy has not addressed her cameo publicly yet, and the next Bachelorette lead has not been officially announced.
Nick speculated that when a video of Daisy singing a song with explicit lyrics surfaced, the producers of the franchise may have reconsidered her as a lead. They might have thought, "I don't know, how about Maria?" Nick suggested that Maria, who is very popular, could have always been their first choice, but Daisy's video could have been a factor in their decision-making process.
According to Nick, the producers probably decided against having Daisy as the lead due to concerns similar to those they had about him being the Bachelor.
"I remember having dinner with someone who used to be the showrunner of the show. He is no longer the showrunner, but we were catching up before I was named the Bachelor. It was after Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season and Ben Higgins was the Bachelor. I had just finished with Kaitlyn’s season and decided to take the summer off. It was the summer of Nick, I didn’t go back to work right away. I was all kind of messed up from the show."
Nick added, "During that time, I was working out and posting photos to show off. They told me that it wasn't a good look to post 'I’m working out' and things that could come off as douchey or f—kboy-like."
Would you like to see a former Bachelor have a second season? Nick and Ben, both 34 years old, were contestants on Kaitlyn's season 11 of The Bachelorette in 2015. It was Nick's second time on the show after appearing on Andi Dorfman's season. Ben was later named the next lead, while Nick went on to be cast on Bachelor in Paradise and had a redemption arc. Eventually, Nick starred on The Bachelor for season 21 in 2017.
The Bachelor finale airs on ABC Monday, March 25, at 8 p.m. ET.
Editor's P/S:
Nick Viall's analysis on the potential reasons behind Daisy Kent's exclusion from the Bachelorette contender list raises interesting questions about the show's casting criteria. While Maria Georgas may be a popular choice, one wonders if the producers' hesitation towards Daisy stems solely from her appearance in a music video with explicit lyrics. Viall's comparison to his own experience as a Bachelor suggests that the show may have concerns about contestants presenting an image that could be perceived as inappropriate or unflattering.
However, it's important to note that Daisy has not publicly addressed her cameo, and the official announcement of the next Bachelorette lead is yet to be made. Therefore, it remains speculative whether Daisy's video was a decisive factor in the producers' decision-making process. Ultimately, the show's producers hold the discretion to select the lead they believe best represents the values and expectations of the franchise and its viewers.
