Nick Viall Supports Brittany Mahomes' Skims Campaign Amid Her Friendship with Taylor Swift

Nick Viall is defending Brittany Mahomes amid backlash from Taylor Swift fans over her recent Skims campaign endorsed by Kim Kardashian. Viall, 43, expressed his opinion on his podcast "The Viall Files," suggesting that people should refrain from judging without knowing the timeline of the campaign in relation to Taylor and Brittany becoming friends. He also raised the question of whether Taylor even cares about the situation anymore.

Mahomes, who is 28 years old, became part of Swift's esteemed circle of friends ever since she started dating Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, last month. This close friendship upset Swift's devoted fans, known as Swifties, when Brittany, along with her husband Patrick Mahomes and their two young children, Sterling (2 years old) and Bronze (11 months old), appeared in Skim's recent holiday campaign. The reason for their disappointment stems from the fact that Kardashian, who is 43 years old, has been one of Swift's most well-known rivals.

Back in 2016, Kardashian caused quite a stir by sharing a video that showed Swift giving permission to her ex-husband, Kanye West, to use her name in a lyric for his song "Famous." In the video, Swift was referred to as "that bitch," a term that she had previously denied allowing West to use. As a result of this incident, the Kardashians star labeled Swift as a "snake," a term that the Grammy winner later reclaimed during her Reputation era in the following year.

The complete recording of the "Famous" phone call was leaked in 2020. It was revealed that Swift did not know how her name would be used in the song and declined West's request to share the track on X (formerly Twitter). Kardashian, on the other hand, expressed in a lengthy X message that "nobody ever denied the word 'bitch' was used without her permission."

On Tuesday, Viall pointed out that if Swift was truly upset about Brittany's Skims ad, she could distance herself from the former soccer player. He also revealed that a friend of his, who is close to Swift, believes that she quickly connected with Brittany because they both understand what it's like to be criticized in the public eye.

Brittany has faced criticism over the years from fans due to her online behavior and actions during games. Additionally, she came under fire for standing up for Patrick's younger brother, Jackson Mahomes, when he was accused of forcibly kissing a restaurant owner in February. In May, Jackson was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated battery and one count of misdemeanor battery. He was later released on $100,000 bond.

When it comes to choosing people for her inner circle, Swift is open to befriending individuals who may not necessarily be die-hard fans. According to Viall, she tends to gravitate towards people she considers her equals. It is possible that Brittany Mahomes, who might not even be aware of the rivalry with Kim, simply received a casual talk about the situation, like a "Hey! No big deal, but that was kind of strange."

Viall concluded by raising the question of whether Swift and Kardashian have reconciled since then. He wondered if Kim may have reached out privately, expressing regret for her past actions and explaining that she was just trying to be a supportive wife for Kanye. However, given that Kim has distanced herself from Kanye, it is unclear whether any sort of resolution has taken place. Therefore, before we criticize Brittany Mahomes, Viall suggests that we extend her some understanding and follow Taylor's example.

In 2021, Kardashian parted ways with West, at the age of 46. Interestingly, around the same time, she appeared to put an end to her longstanding feud with Swift by expressing admiration for her music. During an episode of the "Honestly With Bari Weiss" podcast, Kardashian openly stated, "I genuinely appreciate many of her songs. They are undeniably delightful and have a catchy quality to them."
