Nick Viall’s fears of commitment caused him to have reservations about starting a lasting relationship with his now-fiancée, Natalie Joy.
During an episode of Kristin Cavallari’s “Let’s Be Honest” podcast on October 31, Viall, 43, elaborated on their long-distance situation, sharing, “I was concerned that we might be at different stages in our lives. However, she confidently expressed her desire to date me by explaining her feelings and giving me an ultimatum.”
Joy, aged 25, initially distanced herself when Viall failed to reciprocate her feelings, but he managed to win her over again.
"From the moment I laid eyes on her, I found her to be stunning," Viall recounted during the podcast episode. "I was pleasantly surprised by how much I genuinely enjoyed being around her in the beginning, and before long, she seamlessly became a part of my friend group, earning their approval."
"He also mentioned that her overall confidence and strong sense of clarity were key factors in their relationship. Without her, they wouldn't be together."
"Viall and Joy began dating after she initiated contact with the former Bachelor star through direct messages. They made their relationship official in January 2021."

"Natalie is the first woman I've ever been with who shares so many small interests with me, which I used to overlook," Viall shared with Cavallari, 36. "We enjoy the same types of food and shows, and engage in similar activities. It feels effortless, as every day flows smoothly."
After being together for over two years, Viall popped the question to Joy in January. In August, the couple joyfully revealed that they are anticipating their first child, a baby girl.
Viall previously discussed the romantic start to his relationship with Joy. He shared on the "Viall Files" podcast in February 2021 that they kept spending time together until Joy expressed her desire to date him. Initially uncertain, he remembered her taking the initiative and saying, "I'm going to do my own thing," which surprised him. As she pursued her own interests, it became clear to him what he would be missing out on.
As the couple prepares to get married and embark on parenthood for the first time, Viall has openly expressed how much Joy has taught him about love. In an exclusive interview with We in October 2022, he enthusiastically shared, "She has not only taught me but also shown me the importance of being fully present. Whether it's grabbing a coffee from a barista or checking out at the grocery store, she has taught me the value of cherishing those small moments, acknowledging people, and making them feel seen and validated. It truly adds something extraordinary to our daily lives and especially to our relationship."
