Morgan Wallen is getting ready to open a bar in Nashville, but he won't be able to have any outside signage because of his previous controversies.

Local Nashville news sources shared that on Tuesday, May 21, the city's Metro Council decided against allowing Wallen, who is 31 years old, to display a 20-foot neon sign for his new bar. The sign was supposed to say "Morgan Wallen's This Bar" and be placed outside the upcoming establishment near the Ryman Auditorium on Broadway.

Wallen's bar, known as This Bar and Tennessee Kitchen, is scheduled to open during Memorial Day Weekend. The establishment will boast six bars, a rooftop area, and multiple music stages.

During the recent council meeting, 30 members voted against allowing Wallen's sign to be displayed, while only three were in favor. Four council members chose to abstain from the vote.

One council member, Delishia Porterfield, expressed her opposition to Wallen's sign by stating, "I don't want to see a billboard up with the name of a person who's throwing chairs off of balconies and who is saying racial slurs." This statement was made in reference to Wallen's past controversies, including a video that surfaced in 2021 showing him using a racial slur. Wallen has since issued an apology for his actions.

Jordan Huffman, another council member, expressed during the meeting on Tuesday that Wallen's behavior reflects poorly on all of us. Huffman described Wallen's comments as hateful and his actions as harmful.

As of now, Wallen has chosen not to address the council's decision publicly.

Wallen was arrested in April for allegedly throwing a chair from the rooftop of Eric Church’s bar in Nashville. The Metro Nashville Police Department informed us that police officers were outside the establishment when a chair fell from above, landing near them.

Following claims from employees that Wallen was the one who threw the chair, he was arrested and later charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

The singer's lawyer, Worrick Robinson, mentioned in a statement to Us that he was fully cooperating with authorities. Wallen, on the other hand, did not release his own statement until almost two weeks later.

In his statement, Wallen expressed that he wanted to make amends before publicly addressing the incident. He mentioned that he had spoken with Nashville law enforcement, his family, and the staff at Chief's. He admitted that he was not proud of his actions and took full responsibility. He also expressed his respect for the officers who work hard to ensure our safety. In terms of his tour, he stated that there would be no changes.

Wallen, who is currently on his One Night at a Time Tour, decided not to show up in court earlier this month. Instead, Robinson attended a hearing on the singer's behalf. Wallen is scheduled to appear in court on August 15.
