The pathway to Peridea has never been explored in the Star Wars canon before, but Ahsoka episode 6 reveals that it has strong connections to the main galaxy. This means that some very familiar faces make an appearance. Lars Mikkelsen's Grand Admiral Thrawn and Eman Esfandi's Ezra Bridger have their exciting live-action debuts in this episode, while Morgan and Sabine successfully complete their missions. Unfortunately, Thrawn's statement that Sabine has risked the fate of the entire galaxy is not an exaggeration, and it seems that she has lost the bet. Here are all the thrilling Star Wars Easter eggs and references in this episode.
10 A New Star Wars Hyperspace Effect
9 "A Long Time Ago..." Is Now Star Wars Canon
: The viewers are greeted with a rendition of a familiar scene - hyperspace - as Ahsoka Tano embarks on her journey to Peridea. Accompanied by a purrgil, the duo's intergalactic expedition presents a departure from the typical blue-and-white streaks commonly associated with hyperspace travel. This could signify the presence of peculiar substances within the interstellar void or simply result from the purrgil's astonishing velocity.
Ahsoka inquires of Huyang, desiring to hear the narratives he imparted at the Jedi Temple, tales that unveil the ancient history of the universe. Interestingly, the tale that Huyang commences with carries the phrase "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away." This particular legend, mentioned by Baylan, tells of wanderers journeying from distant galaxies. If these legends hold truth, then they predate the recorded history of the Star Wars galaxy.
8 Peridea Is The Homeworld Of The Nigtsisters
7 Surviving Nightsisters Have Been Exiled To Peridea
Ahsoka episode 6 reveals that the homeworld of the Nightsisters, an enigmatic cult of Force witches known for their unique magick, was Peridea. Their mystical abilities have always appeared to deviate from conventional Force practices. This is explained in Star Wars, as it is implied that the peculiar nature of Nightsister magick can be attributed to its origin in another galaxy. Surprisingly, the Nightsisters were the first to acquire the knowledge of intergalactic travel through the utilization of purrgil creatures.
Previously believed to be extinct, the Nightsisters were presumed to have lost their existence, leaving Morgan as the only surviving member. However, it has come to light that a diminutive faction of Nightsisters had been banished to Peridea, accompanied by a formidable Grand Mother. Their exile has been prolonged, as Peridea serves as a burial ground for ailing purrgil, rendering their return impossible.
6 Baylan Remembers Order 66 & The Fall Of The Jedi
The captivating bond between Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati is shrouded in mystery. Shin appears to be ignorant of Baylan's enigmatic past and is oblivious to his undisclosed intentions. In an intriguing conversational exchange during Ahsoka episode 6, Baylan reminisces about the tragic events of Order 66 and the incineration of the once prestigious Jedi Temple. Shin's evident fascination captivates the conversation. Despite not identifying himself as a Jedi, Baylan concedes that he yearns for the principles and ideals they were meant to embody.
5 Baylan Describes The Cycle Of Light & Darkness
Baylan unveils his intention of finding a solution to dismantle the timeless cycle of celestial illumination and obscurity that has ensnared the galaxy for countless millennia. Without a doubt, the galaxy has remained entrenched in an unyielding procession of nocturnal interludes and diurnal radiance for a staggering span of 20,000 years at the very least. Predating the advent of the Sith, nefarious sects devoted to the forces of darkness had already emerged, and upon the Sith's ascension, an intense struggle for dominion over the galaxy ensued between them and the enlightened Jedi. It may well be plausible that this cyclical pattern extends back even further into antiquity.
4 Thrawn's Flagship, The Chimera
3 Baylan Senses A Power Stirring On Peridea
In Ahsoka episode 6, the magnificent Chimera, Grand Admiral Thrawn's customized Star Destroyer, is revealed. This remarkable vessel not only showcases Thrawn's appreciation for art but also reflects his meticulous attention to detail. The decorations adorning the ship perfectly embody Thrawn's character, and witnessing the Chimera in all its glory is truly exhilarating.
Shin is informed by Baylan about a stirring presence on Peridea. Baylan is confident that this immense and formidable entity possesses the potential to disrupt the perpetual dance of light and darkness. The way Baylan articulates his thoughts strongly reminds Shin of Palpatine, and it echoes a reminiscent moment captured in Chuck Wendig's "Aftermath" trilogy, where one of the Emperor's trusted aides experienced something quite similar.
"Beyond the boundaries of the familiar galaxy lies an uncharted expanse, as described by Palpatine, that remains inaccessible due to a complex network of severe solar storms, unpredictable magnetospheres, enigmatic black holes, overpowering gravity wells, and numerous inexplicable phenomena. Historical records reveal countless failed attempts to conquer this perplexing labyrinth, resulting in the complete annihilation of spacecrafts or their return to the galaxy without any surviving explorers. The communications received from these brave adventurers were either garbled by intense interference, rendering their content futile, or filled with nonsensical rantings, indicating the devastating toll of isolation on the explorer's sanity. It is conceivable that the Star Wars narrative is revising this perspective and suggesting that Palpatine may have been mistaken in perceiving a presence within the Unknown Regions."
2 The Return Of Ezra Bridger
1 Thrawn's Army Of Night Troopers
Sabine successfully locates the whereabouts of the missing Jedi, Ezra Bridger. Remarkably, Ezra has fully assimilated into the culture of Peridea, a fact that shouldn't come as a surprise considering his inherent ability to form deep connections with both individuals and creatures on an intuitive level. This unique skillset has undoubtedly facilitated his ability to establish meaningful relationships even within the unfamiliar environment of Peridea. It is clear that Ezra possesses an innate adaptability that allows him to seamlessly integrate himself into any given situation.
The soldiers under Thrawn's command are known as "Night Troopers," a designation that bears resemblance to the previously used term "Death Trooper." In the canon, the name "Death Trooper" referred to stormtroopers turned into zombies in Legends. Considering Thrawn's collaboration with the Nightsisters, it is plausible that his forces consist of undead individuals. Consequently, Ahsoka's path seems to be heading towards a darker direction, providing an explanation for Thrawn's belief in his ability to conquer the entire galaxy.
