Mind-Blowing Convergent Pokemon Designs to Astonish Every Fan

A skilled and creative Pokemon fan artist has brought forth six innovative convergent species, drawing inspiration from existing monsters. The introduction of convergent species and Paradox forms in the Scarlet and Violet editions has sparked a tremendous surge of inspired fan art within the Pokemon community.

Convergent species were recently introduced in the ninth Generation of the Pokemon franchise. These species resemble one another (such as Wiglett and Diglett) but do not share any actual genetic relation, mirroring the real-life phenomenon of convergent evolution, where different species develop similar features over time. This differs from regional forms, which belong to the same species (like Meowth and Alolan Meowth) but possess distinct evolutionary traits. The upcoming debut of Poltchageist, a Pokemon inspired by Japanese folklore, will serve as another example of a convergent species, enriching the first wave of Scarlet and Violet DLC.

Reddit user ordheistart shared some original creations they have been working on between commissions with the community. These fan-made convergent species are inspired by six Pokemon: Forretress, Eiscue, Poliwrath, Ralts, Mudkip, and Nosepass. Each of these species features unique designs and Types different from their original inspirations.

The Forretress-inspired species is a Dragon and Ice-Type Pokemon, while the Eiscue design represents a Steel and Ghost-Type. The Poliwrath-inspired character belongs to the Psychic and Dark-Type category, whereas Ralts combines Water and Steel. Mudkip takes on Psychic and Fire attributes, and the Nosepass variant showcases a cool Ghost and Bug-Type design. Just like the artist who created three new Eeveelutions, this creative individual clearly dedicated considerable thought to the designs of each of these characters.

The comment section shows a strong preference for the convergent design of Eiscue, as it brings a fresh perspective to an underrated Pokemon. This is similar to how a fan of Pokemon created different forms of Delphox. It is evident that every Pokemon has its own fanbase. The innovative designs and alternative forms created by talented artists can give long-time fans a newfound appreciation for characters that may have been forgotten.

The scientific concept behind the convergent evolution of Scarlet and Violet is incredibly interesting, which explains why fans have started designing their own unique creatures. Although this is a recent addition to the franchise, the introduction of Polteageist suggests that Pokemon may continue to create convergent species in the future.
