Maximizing Kafka's Potential: Unleash Her Versatility in Honkai: Star RailKafka, the incredibly versatile Nihility character, embraces a wide array of damage types, granting her unparalleled flexibility in crafting her character builds. While her playstyle predominantly revolves around Damage over Time (DoT) and debuffs, she still possesses the power to obliterate her adversaries with devastating attacks and passive abilities found within her Talent tree. In this guide, we delve into a build specifically tailored to amplify Kafka's primary purpose: catalyzing high-damage DoT effects and ensuring every member of the party radiates brilliance.
Kafka, a Lightning Nihility character, possesses a distinctive power to deliberately initiate DoT effects such as Bleeding, Shock, and Wind Shear. While not exceptionally proficient at inflicting DoTs on her own, when teamed up with Sampo, Serval, or Luka, Kafka becomes an unstoppable force, capable of wreaking havoc on any target.
Core Stat Priorities: SPD, ATK%, Break Effect, CRIT, Effect Hit Rate

Kafka should prioritize building SPD to maximize her ability to trigger DoTs frequently. However, she only needs approximately 28% Effect Hit Rate to ensure Shock procs against enemies with 40% Effect RES with her Ultimate.
While it is not necessary for players to heavily stack ATK and Crit stats on Kafka, as a significant portion of her damage will come from DoT effects applied by the entire team, it is advisable to aim for an ATK stat around 2000 to ensure her own attacks are effective.
Both 5-star Nihility Light Cones are powerful in Kafka's hands, but for players who aren't fortunate enough with their gacha rolls, choosing Fermata is the better option. Fermata significantly enhances her damage against targets under the influence of Shock or Wind Shear, and it is relatively accessible through the Forgotten Hall shop or by defeating bosses.
Kafka Trace Leveling Order
When it comes to Kafka's Trace order, it deviates slightly from other characters as her Ultimate and Talent abilities are the primary means through which Shock is applied. Nevertheless, the fundamental principle remains intact: prioritize the utilization of her most impactful abilities before considering other aspects.

Players who want to use Kafka primarily for DoT teams should prioritize leveling her Skill, as it is responsible for triggering DoTs. Kafka's Talent and Ultimate abilities are the main sources of Shock. By using Twilight Trill or another party member's basic attack, players can enable Kafka to use Caressing Moonlight and still activate the Shock effects caused by herself.
Unlocking the Torture ascension passive should be a priority, as it allows Kafka to trigger all DoT effects instead of just Shock. It is recommended to acquire this Trace as soon as possible and unlock the other passives whenever sufficient resources are available.
Kafka inflicts moderate damage on her own, but she thrives when paired with another character capable of consistently applying DoT effects.
