Mario and Courtney Lopez have taken legal action against the construction company and real estate developer responsible for building their Los Angeles home. In court documents retrieved by We on December 13, Mario, 50, and Courtney, 41, alleged that the construction workers did not disclose building errors prior to the sale.
Saved by the Bell actor and his wife signed a Residential Purchase Agreement in May 2022 for their La Cañada home in L.A. They claim the seller and construction company had assured them there were no issues with alterations or repairs, settling, soil problems, flooding, drainage, or grading. However, after moving in, they discovered severe leakage on the patio deck and outdoor steps after heavy rainfall. They hired a contractor to inspect the property, who found improper sloping, poor waterproofing, and incorrect installation of handrails as potential causes of the issue.
The alleged house leak has resulted in over $100,000 in damage and potential mold exposure. Mario and Courtney also claim that their home theater equipment was destroyed due to the water damage, alleging that the defendants failed to disclose construction errors and intentionally suppressed information in order to defraud and deceive potential buyers.
Mario and Courtney Lopez, pictured above, stated that they would not have purchased the property if they had been aware of its "defective construction." They are now seeking $400,000 in general damages through a lawsuit.
Actor Mario Lopez and his wife Courtney have been married since December 2012 and have three children together: 13-year-old Gia, 10-year-old Dominic, and 4-year-old Santino. Despite his success in acting and hosting, Lopez considers his family to be his top priority.
"I am most proud of my family- my parents who recently celebrated 51 years together, my amazing sister and her family, my wonderful wife, and my kids," Mario shared exclusively with We in his October cover story. "Many things in life are fleeting, but having a great family is invaluable."
He expressed at that moment: "No matter what kind of day you’re having, you come home and you hear, “Daddy!” and they’re opening their arms and loving you unconditionally. That makes it all worthwhile."
