On December 4, Maralee Nichols celebrated her son Theo's second birthday with a train-themed party. She shared photos on Instagram, showing her and her friends dressed in matching overalls, bandanas, and conductors' hats. One photo featured Nichols and Theo in front of a balloon display that read "Chugga Chugga, Two Two."
In December 2021, it was revealed that Nichols had become a mother. Prior to this, she had garnered attention for her legal battle with Tristan Thompson over child support. Nichols alleged that Thompson had fathered her child in March 2021 while still in a relationship with Khloé Kardashian. Thompson, who has children with Kardashian, confirmed his paternity through social media a month later.
Via his Instagram Story, Thompson, 32, expressed his full accountability for his actions. He acknowledged paternity and expressed his desire to co-parent their son amicably. He apologized to all those he has hurt publicly and privately throughout the ordeal. In his apology to Kardashian, he expressed regret for the pain and humiliation caused by his infidelity, acknowledging that she deserves better and expressing his love and respect for her.

Since welcoming Theo into the world, Nichols has continued to share glimpses of her life as a mother. On the other hand, Thompson has not publicly addressed his relationship with his fourth child. (The athlete also has another son, Prince, 6, with his ex, Jordan Craig.)
During filming season 4 of The Kardashians, Thompson and Kardashian had an onscreen conversation in which they made a rare comment about his son.
“Tristan has been focused on his personal growth and has been undergoing therapy. He's determined to show that he's changed, and I'm not really a part of that process,” Kardashian said in a confessional during a recent episode. “This is something between him and each member of the family.”

She added, "In this family, the actions of one affect everyone, and they have the right to their feelings. It's not a minor issue, but time has passed and it's over. My son and your other son are here."
Thompson also discussed his personal development over the years, saying, "It's all about growth. Everyone has their own journey to maturity. Therapy helped me realize that you can't live life with regrets," he stated. "I've reached a point where I can truly acknowledge and take responsibility for the mistakes I've made. Years ago, I don't think I understood the harm I may have caused."
