Lance Bass Urges 'NSync to Explore New Endeavors' After Brief Reunion

Lance Bass believes that 'NSync should continue to please their devoted fans by reuniting once more, following their long-awaited comeback with 'Better Place' after two decades

Lance Bass believes that 'NSync fans are entitled to a genuine reunion after their sensational yet short-lived comeback earlier this year. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday, November 7, the 44-year-old stated, "We need to ensure we do it right this time, even though 'NSync had to encounter setbacks in order for that to happen. Despite that, we had an incredible time, and I don't perceive this as our final endeavor. In light of this setback, I feel it is our responsibility to make things right for the fans once more by pursuing another project."

‘NSync, comprised of Bass, Justin Timberlake, J.C. Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick, came together once again in September at the 2023 VMAs. They reunited specifically to present the Best Pop Award to Taylor Swift. Following the awards show, just two days later, the group made an exciting announcement - they had a brand new song called "Better Place" set to release at the end of the month. This single marked ‘NSync’s return after a 23-year break and was originally written for the movie Trolls Band Together, where Timberlake, who is now 42, lends his voice to the character Branch. However, due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, the band was unable to promote the song.

"Speaking about the VMAs, I never expected such an overwhelming response, but it was truly amazing to witness," gushed Bass on Tuesday. "Considering we couldn't even mention the song, the fact that it's dominating the radio and streaming platforms is incredibly special. It's a true testament to the immense love and support from our fans, and the love we have for them. We are forever grateful."

While Bass remains hopeful about collaborating with his bandmates in the future, any concrete plans are on hold until the strike officially ends. One thing Bass expressed his eagerness for is going on tour with 'NSync once again.

"We thoroughly enjoy putting on a show, it was our absolute favorite thing to do," expressed Bass. "In retrospect, I might have reconsidered spending every penny we earned from our tours, but nevertheless, I find it exciting to remind everyone about our thrilling performances."

Following their appearance on the VMAs stage, Bass and Fatone, aged 46, took some time with We to reminisce on the highly talked-about reunion that had set social media on fire.

Bass explained that for the past 23 years, there had been discussions about potential projects. They previously performed at Coachella and the VMAs a decade ago, so it felt like the right time to reunite. On the other hand, Fatone revealed that "Better Place" was a heartfelt tribute to their loyal fans who have supported them since the group disbanded in the early 2000s.

"It was simply one of those moments where we thought, 'Wow, alright, we're actually doing this.' We are sincerely thrilled to see how things unfold," Fatone shared with Us. "I mean, it's been 25 years since we've released any new material. So being able to reunite in the studio, with these amazing vibes, is truly fantastic."
