NSYNC members have recently confirmed their past involvement in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. Currently reunited, the former boy band has been promoting their new single and making appearances on popular shows like Hot Ones. During their interview on Hot Ones, NSYNC surprised fans by revealing that they had secretly played Jedi Knights wielding lightsabers in the film over 20 years ago. Despite having to endure some very spicy wings during the interview, the band members shared that JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick had filmed scenes and even underwent sword choreography. However, their appearances were ultimately cut from the final version of the movie. You can watch their comments starting at the 7:00 mark in the video below.
Although NSYNC's roles as Jedi were ultimately cut, Joey insists that the footage still exists somewhere in Lucasfilm's archives.
Will Star Wars Ever Release NSYNC's Cut Jedi Scene?
Given their comments and involvement in the sword choreography, it is highly likely that JC, Joey, and Chris filmed their scenes during the Battle of Geonosis in the expansive arena. This indicates that they would have been among the numerous Jedi who teamed up with Samuel L. Jackson's Mace Windu to rescue Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padmé Amidala from Count Dooku. Considering the multitude of Jedi featured in this epic battle sequence, it presented the perfect opportunity for NSYNC to make cameo appearances in the prequel film.
Regrettably, it appears that the possibility of NSYNC joining forces with the Jedi Order and swooping in for a rescue mission was not destined to happen. Nonetheless, there is still a chance that the recorded footage could be showcased at a future Star Wars Celebration or during a forthcoming anniversary celebration of Attack of the Clones. Even if it remains a deleted scene, witnessing the renowned boy band make fleeting appearances in the Star Wars universe would undoubtedly generate immense excitement in the future.
