Kylian Mbappé, the forward for Paris Saint-Germain, stated that he has not yet decided where he will play in the upcoming season as his contract approaches its final six months. Last year, he announced that he would not be renewing his contract with PSG, which is set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 season, potentially allowing him to depart Paris without any transfer fee.
The France captain, who has been repeatedly rumored to be transferring to Real Madrid, is now able to commit to a new club by signing a pre-contract agreement.
"Most importantly, I'm extremely motivated for this year. It's crucial," Mbappé informed reporters following PSG's 2-0 victory over Toulouse in the French Super Cup final on Wednesday.
"I've mentioned that we have titles to pursue and we've already achieved one, so that's a done deal. As for what comes next, I haven't made a decision yet.
"Regardless, the agreement I made with the chairman (Nasser Al-Khelaifi) this summer means that my decision doesn't really matter."
All parties were protected and the club's serenity was preserved for the upcoming challenges, which is the most important outcome. Therefore, we can consider it as a secondary matter. According to media reports in September, Mbappé had reportedly agreed to forfeit loyalty bonuses worth up to 100 million euros ($109.45 million) if he left PSG on a free transfer.
Mbappé announced his contract extension with PSG in May 2022, just before the transfer window opened. The 25-year-old expressed his intention to make a decision earlier this time around, stating, "If I know what I want to do, why drag it out? It just doesn't make sense."
