Paris Saint-Germain is nearing an agreement with Luis Enrique to assume the role of their new head coach. Following the dismissal of Christophe Galtier, who was officially confirmed to have left on Wednesday morning, the French champions are poised to appoint the Spanish tactician.
Luis Enrique, who left Spain in December after their last-16 elimination from the World Cup against Morocco in Qatar, has been on the shortlist for recent managerial vacancies at Chelsea and Tottenham. He has been out of work since then.

Previously, the individual aged 53 achieved success at Barcelona by securing the treble in 2015. In spite of the 56-year-old Galtier leading PSG to victory in the Ligue 1 title last season, the former Roma and Celta Vigo boss appears to be on the verge of taking over his position.
PSG's performance deteriorated following the World Cup, experiencing 10 losses out of 28 matches.
Their elimination from the Champions League occurred in the last 16 stage against Bayern Munich, and they faced a similar fate in the French Cup against rivals Marseille.
Galtier has been dismissed before the expiration of his one-year contract at PSG, which he signed in July 2022.
According to a statement released by the club, "The Paris Saint-Germain team extends their gratitude to Christophe Galtier, as well as his assistants Thierry Oleksiak and João Sacramento, for their exemplary professionalism and dedication throughout the season, and wishes them great success in their future endeavors."
PSG's attempt to convey goodwill is overshadowed by his departure. Last Friday, he was called to appear in court in December, facing accusations of psychological harassment and discrimination in relation to a racism investigation at his previous club, Nice.
The Frenchman and his son, John Valovic-Galtier, were detained for interrogation on Friday morning. While his son was released without charge, Galtier, who staunchly denies the allegations, was referred to the public prosecutor's office to stand trial in Nice on December 15.
