Kerry Washington, 46, was spotted channeling her inner Blair Waldorf during her appearance on The View on Monday, October 9, in New York City. The actress looked posh and preppy in a tweed blazer dress designed by Giambattista Valli. The dress featured blue and pink fabric with gold buttons. Washington completed the look with black Manolo Blahnik boots, adorned with crystals.
Washington added a textured box clutch by Brandon Blackwood and a jewel-decorated headband resembling a tiara to complete her outfit. The regal headpiece beautifully matched Washington's elegant loose waves. To enhance her look, she chose rosy cheeks and a vibrant pink lip. Washington is no stranger to using the streets of New York City as her own personal runway, especially during her promotional activities for her new memoir, Thicker Than Water.
Last month, Washington effortlessly embraced the monochrome trend as she struck a pose in Times Square. Her eye-catching all-yellow outfit consisted of a stylish cropped sweater, high-waisted trousers, a circular Fendi bag, and sleek red pointed-toe pumps. Accentuating her look was a lively high ponytail, adorned with face-framing tendrils.
Although Washington continuously exuded joy during her press tour, writing her memoir proved to be an extraordinary undertaking.

In a profile with the Los Angeles Times on September 25, the UnPrisoned star admitted her reluctance to have her parents peruse the book due to its disclosure of intimate family revelations, such as the revelation that she was conceived using a sperm donor.
“I have always been private about my personal life and have taken great care to protect my children. However, my parents have consistently been a part of my public narrative. When I received this new information, I suddenly felt like a dishonest person,” Washington confessed to the publication. (Washington, along with former NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha, share two children, a 9-year-old daughter named Isabelle and a son named Caleb, who will be turning 7 this month.)
Washington went on to say, “If I continued to conceal the truth about my parents, I would be perpetuating a falsehood. I didn't want to hide from my own story. If my story was going to be revealed in any way, I wanted to be the one in control of it."
“The most significant obstacle was presenting it to my parents,” shared Washington with the outlet. “After they perused it and offered their approval, I sensed a reassuring feeling that everything would be fine."

Washington's book delves into her experience of enduring a sense of detachment from her parents, along with grappling with panic attacks, sexual trauma, and struggles with body image. Following the revelation about her biological father being a sperm donor, Washington's relationship with her father has undergone significant transformation.
In a subsequent interview with NPR, Washington recounted her emotions and thoughts upon discovering the truth at the age of 41.
Washington revealed to NPR that her parents disclosed to her that her beloved dad is not her biological father. She discovered that she was conceived through a sperm donor during the 1970s, a time when it was deemed necessary to keep such information a secret due to societal attitudes. This revelation made her realize that every time she expressed her love for her dad, it was based on falsehood, causing her to ponder whether her dad suspected that her love was rooted in the assumption that he was her biological father.
