Kelly Rizzo, 44, admitted that although she still deeply misses her late husband Bob Saget, she is beginning to consider the possibility of dating again. In an interview with Extra on October 2, Rizzo revealed that she is open to accepting a date if someone were to ask her out, acknowledging the presence of survivor's guilt following Saget's passing at the age of 65.
"You experience guilt when you have moments of happiness or when you aren't constantly feeling sad," Rizzo explained. "Feeling guilty about it is actually quite common. Now that some time has elapsed, even his daughters reassure me by saying, 'That's silly. Heavenly Bob would want you to be happy.'"
Rizzo playfully suggested that Saget might have had a different perspective while he was alive. "Earthly Bob would've probably said, 'Don't get too happy,'" she quipped.
Saget and Rizzo exchanged vows in 2018 after being in a relationship for three years. Before tying the knot with Rizzo, the comedian had been married to Sherri Kramer, and they had three daughters together: Aubrey (36), Lara (33), and Jennifer (30). Saget and Kramer decided to end their marriage in 1997.
Bob Saget, the renowned actor known for his roles in various television shows, tragically passed away in January 2022. The discovery of his lifeless body in his Orlando, Florida hotel room was a heartbreaking moment for his loved ones and fans worldwide. Subsequent investigations revealed that Saget's untimely demise was a result of head trauma. Astonishingly, it was determined that he had unintentionally struck the back of his head on an object, unaware of the potential consequences, before retiring for the night. In a public statement issued by Saget's family in February 2022, they emphasized that neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the incident.
Rizzo has bravely shared her emotional journey following Saget's untimely demise. In January, on the anniversary of his passing, she took to Instagram to commemorate their cherished memories with a heartfelt montage.
“It's been a year. Our hearts ache with the weight of his absence,” she expressed. “How is it possible that I haven't spoken to or laid eyes upon my beloved husband for an entire year? The surreal nature of it all never diminishes. I accepted the truth long ago, yet it still feels unreal when I come across photos or videos of him, radiating with vitality.”
She added that the only thing that helps her cope with her grief is the fact that she had the privilege of spending a few years with him.
"I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been his wife," she expressed. "I feel blessed to have experienced his warmth, laughter, intelligence, and love. I feel lucky to have our daughters by my side. I feel grateful that I witnessed firsthand his ability to help and bring joy to others, and to make the world a better place. Some people could live a thousand lifetimes and still not live as fully as he did. And for that, I commend him. You truly mastered life, my dear. That's why I will forever cherish him and the infinite love he showered upon me until my final day."
