Katie Couric Reveals Heartbreak: How Bob Saget Left Her Hanging After a Date

During an episode of her podcast "Next Question With Katie Couric," Katie Couric opened up about her experience going on a date with the late actor Bob Saget. However, she admitted that despite enjoying their time together and sharing a pleasant kiss, she never heard back from him for a second date. Katie Couric sat down with Bob Saget's wife, Kelly Rizzo, to discuss this encounter.

Rizzo, who is 44 years old, mentioned that her deceased spouse was a significant admirer of Couric and held her in high regard. Rizzo and Saget were married from 2018 until his passing in September 2022.

Couric responded with a humorous remark, saying, "Well, apparently not enough to reach out to me again. However, that's alright, because everything turned out well. He discovered his true love with you."

Katie Couric and Tony Rizzo were accompanied on the podcast by John Stamos, who is a former costar and friend of Saget from Full House. Stamos, who is now 60, made a confession to Couric that the result would have been different if he were in Saget's position.

"Katie, if it was you and me going out instead of you and Bob, we would probably still be in a romantic relationship," he humorously stated. "But let's keep it between us, and don't tell my wife."

Stamos playfully hinted that he should have been the one to take the journalist out on a date, along with Saget and Coulier.

"Well, John, you didn't ask, and I don't think you were free at that time," Couric replied.

Stamos reminisced about a past conversation with his friend regarding Saget's infatuation with Couric. During the conversation, Stamos disclosed that he provided Saget with guidance on how to win over the journalist.

"I believe he felt intimated by you," Stamos shared. "I had to essentially act as a Cyrano for him. I would advise him on what to text, what to say, and how to behave on their dates. I should have reviewed our text messages because I remember cautioning him, saying things like 'Don't mess it up. Impress Katie with your intellect. She's not only beautiful, but also incredibly smart. Be careful, Bob.' Did you two end up kissing?"

Couric confirmed to Stamos that she and Saget had shared a kiss. "And, as Kelly knows, he was quite the skilled kisser," she playfully commented.

"I can attest to that as well," Stamos interjected. "There are three of us present who have experienced his kisses."

Rizzo admitted to being aware of the close relationship between Saget and Stamos, where they often shared affectionate moments both in front of the camera and possibly off-camera as well.

Stamos humorously described their dynamic as that of an old married couple, clarifying that although they didn't have a romantic relationship, they frequently engaged in arguments.
