Kelly Rizzo is sharing her “unique perspective” on Matthew Perry‘s death nearly two years after late husband Bob Saget‘s sudden passing.
"The news of Matthew Perry's sudden demise struck a chord with me, giving me a strong sense of déjà vu," wrote Rizzo, 44, alongside a TikTok video shared on Monday, October 30.
Rizzo openly acknowledged that Perry's passing "truly transported [her] back to a distinct moment," prompting her to contemplate the challenges of mourning in the public spotlight.
"I wanted to inform you all that I discovered my husband had passed away 15 minutes before it became public on TMZ. This incident made me reflect on yesterday's breaking news about Matthew Perry on TMZ, realizing that it was highly likely that many of his family members and even close friends were still unaware of his passing," she expressed. "It's truly unsettling and disheartening."
Various sources reported on October 28th that Perry had been found dead in his residence. The Los Angeles coroner's office later confirmed his demise at the age of 54. While an initial autopsy was conducted, the results proved inconclusive until the toxicology report is released.
The family of Perry expressed their sorrow over his untimely demise in a statement released on October 29th. Perry is survived by his parents, John Bennett Perry and Suzanne Morrison, who separated when he was a baby. Following the separation, his mother remarried, tying the knot with Dateline host Keith Morrison.
In the family's official statement, they conveyed their heartbreak over the loss of their beloved son and brother. They highlighted how Matthew had brought immense happiness to the world through his acting and friendship. The family expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming love and support that has been shown.

Saget passed away at the age of 65 on January 9, 2022. He was discovered in his hotel room in Orlando, Florida, where he had performed a stand-up show the previous night. In a statement released in February 2022, his family confirmed that Saget died as a result of head trauma.
"While we collectively grieve, we kindly request everyone to remember the love and joy that Bob brought to the world, and the valuable lessons he taught us all - to show kindness to everyone, to express our love for those we care about, and to navigate through difficult times with hugs and laughter," the statement further conveyed.
Following her husband's passing, Rizzo has been open about her sorrow. The couple got married in 2018. (Saget previously had three daughters, Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer, with his ex-wife Sherri Kramer.)
In December 2022, Rizzo shared a heartfelt message with her followers, marking her first holiday season without Saget. "Treasure each and every moment. I never imagined that our last Christmas together in the same city would be the previous year's. ... The holidays are a time for hope, love, and unity. I pray that if you're missing a loved one this holiday season, you are blessed with cherished memories and gratitude to help you cope," she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of herself and the late Full House star.
