Just weeks after filing a restraining order against ex Darius Jackson, Keke Palmer released a revenge-themed music video for her song “Serious.”
"Serious" was written for the Deluxe album as an empowering anthem about embracing self-worth and refusing to accept anything less," expressed Palmer, 30, in a press release. "It's a declaration of understanding the importance of choosing yourself and living authentically."
In the music video, a mysterious man abandons Palmer on the side of the road. Upon awakening, she incapacitates the man and moves his unconscious body across the floor.
In the following scene, Palmer confronts the man who is now chained to the table and begins to interrogate him. She then proceeds to place monitors on his head and tries to "reprogram" him.
As she sings, "You never read the signs/ Maybe you should analyze/ You're always putting up a fight/ 'Cause you can't see beyond what's in front of you/ And you don't do the things that I want you to/ I made it so easy/ It doesn't have to be this hard/ Why do you make it so hard?"
The timing of the music video does not seem to be a coincidence. Just weeks ago, Palmer made news for securing a temporary restraining order against 29-year-old Jackson and temporary full custody of their 8-month-old son, Leodis.
Keke Palmer, featured on Youtube, was granted a restraining order by the Los Angeles Superior Court, mandating that Jackson stay at least 100 yards away from his ex-partner and their son until further notice. Additionally, he has been barred from exercising visitation rights at this time.
Following the judge's approval of the request, a legal specialist informed We exclusively that Palmer "probably has compelling and significant evidence."
"Typically, judges are cautious about granting temporary restraining orders in family law cases because they are sometimes misused by individuals to gain an advantage in a custody or divorce case," attorney Neama Rahmani told Us earlier this month.
Palmer stated that she possessed security footage of Jackson unlawfully entering her residence, threatening her, and physically attacking her by lunging and striking her, as well as throwing her over a couch. According to documents examined by Us, Palmer alleged that her ex-boyfriend had been abusive on numerous occasions throughout their two-year relationship. Additionally, in these documents, Palmer affirmed that their relationship had primarily ended due to the physical and emotional mistreatment she had endured at the hands of Jackson.

Jackson has yet to address the accusations publicly. On the day Palmer requested a restraining order, he posted a photo of himself and his son on X (previously known as Twitter).
In the caption, he expressed his love for his son, writing, "I love you, son. See you soon."
