Keke Palmer was surprised by the tumultuous turn her relationship with ex Darius Jackson took. On the November 28 episode of her "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer" podcast, the 30-year-old shared, "I think I've been really naive because my dad is great and my uncles are great, so misogyny came at me hard and quick, with the quickness... When I entered outside of my household and I saw that everybody doesn't really respect their wives, or even women, in the way that my dad respects my mom, it's a pretty rude awakening."
In the earlier part of the episode, the Nope star expressed gratitude towards her parents, Sharon and Larry Palmer, for demonstrating to her what a healthy relationship looks like. However, Keke also acknowledged that being raised under their example may have given her an overly optimistic view of relationships.
"Growing up with parents who went through a divorce or had difficulties getting along, or maybe not having a close relationship with one or both parents, can sometimes give you a more realistic view of life," she explained. "It can teach you that sometimes, even people who love you can let you down. And this is how you learn to set healthy boundaries."
In a later part of the episode, Keke and her mother engaged in a conversation with Dr. Drew Pinsky about relationships. Keke asked, "How does someone know when they did the wrong thing and they’re really the issue? How do you know when you’re the issue?" 65-year-old Dr. Drew responded, "Keke, the person who is re-evaluating themselves, trying to do what’s right, contemplating they could be doing what’s wrong, that is rarely the person who’s doing wrong."

Keke's most recent podcast episode was released almost three weeks following the granting of a temporary restraining order against Jackson, 29. The order prohibits him from being within 100 yards of her and their 9-month-old son, Leodis.
She filed for the restraining order on November 9 and court documents reviewed by We show that the Scream Queens actress accused her ex of abusing her during their two-year relationship. She also requested full custody of their son and expressed concern for Leodis' safety after an incident in September where Jackson acted roughly toward the child.
Keke wrote in her request that Darius became upset when Leo cried while Darius was changing his diaper. She claimed that Darius became rough with Leo and she intervened to protect him. Keke alleged that she and Jackson then had a "tug of war" over their son, but Darius eventually let go and Leo was unharmed. However, as she comforted Leo and finished changing his diaper, Darius hit her in the head before storming out of the room.

Earlier this month, attorney Neama Rahmani informed Us exclusively that there is likely "significant and compelling evidence" against Jackson, as judges are usually wary of granting temporary restraining orders in family law situations. This hesitation stems from the potential for misuse to gain leverage in custody or divorce proceedings.
Jackson has not made a public statement regarding these claims.
