Jeezy is contemplating the dissolution of his marriage to Jeannie Mai, reflecting on the moment he realized their relationship was beyond repair.

In a comprehensive interview with Nia Long, released on his YouTube channel on Wednesday, November 8, the 46-year-old artist expressed his sadness, disappointment, and unease.

The rapper expressed, "However, God has guided me towards a different direction. This path requires me to prioritize my well-being, love myself, and create the most favorable circumstances for myself to flourish, considering everything I have experienced." In September, we verified that Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, initiated divorce proceedings against Mai, 44, in the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia. Jeezy stated in his legal documents that their two-year marriage has become "irretrievably broken" and there is "no hope for reconciliation."

Jeezy, who stated in the court documents that he and Mai were living separately, is currently pursuing the enforcement of their prenuptial agreement and joint custody of their 20-month-old daughter, Monaco. (Monaco is Jeezy's first child with Mai; he also has three older children from previous relationships.)

During the conversation with Nia Long on Wednesday, Jeezy clarified that ending his marriage was not a sudden decision. He emphasized that he had attended couples therapy with Mai, but unfortunately, it did not salvage their relationship.

"I can only take responsibility for my own actions. It would be unfair to expect someone else to fulfill the same duties as me," he stated.

"Well, at least you made an effort," Long remarked, drawing a parallel to her own separation from Ime Udoka. (Long, a 46-year-old basketball coach, ended their relationship in late 2022 following reports of his involvement with a fellow Boston Celtics staff member.)

Jeezy also implied that he had an intuition about Mai not sharing the same relationship goals before initiating the divorce process. He further emphasized his current focus on prioritizing self-care, self-love, and ensuring that he is in the best possible circumstances.

Meanwhile, Mai is seeking support from Monaco as they work through their separation.

"Monaco is like my guiding light," she expressed on Sherri recently. "Without her, I'm not sure if I would navigate through life in the same manner. When I gaze at her, I can ask myself, 'What advice would I give you? If our roles were reversed?' This simple act transforms everything. That's why I'm immensely grateful to be a mother and to have her by my side."
