Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello's divorce came as a surprise to some fans, but those who were close to them were aware of their ongoing difficulties.
According to an exclusive source, Joe and Sofia decided to end their relationship because they were leading separate lives. There were no instances of infidelity or similar issues, but rather, they both realized that their interests and priorities seldom aligned.
Vergara, 51, is known for being very social, enjoying parties and traveling with friends. On the other hand, Manganiello, 46, is more of a homebody and is famous for his star-studded Dungeons & Dragons game nights. According to an insider, their differing preferences for socializing has led to them spending less time together. In fact, they have been living separate lives for about a year now, making the decision to end their relationship.
The couple first crossed paths at the 2014 White House Correspondents Dinner, where Sofia Vergara was accompanying her then-fiancé Nick Loeb. Shortly after the event, Vergara and Loeb went their separate ways.
Speaking on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show in April 2020, Joe Manganiello recalled their initial meeting, describing how Vergara captivated him as she gracefully walked in front of them for about 100 yards. He couldn't help but be mesmerized by her beauty, especially in the stunning dress she was wearing.
In July 2014, it was confirmed that they were dating and Manganiello proposed in December. Less than a year later, in November 2015, the couple got married. However, on July 17, they announced their split. In a joint statement, Vergara and Manganiello expressed their difficult decision to divorce and requested respect for their privacy during this new phase of their lives.
Speculations of a potential split arose among eagle-eyed fans when the renowned actor from True Blood took to Instagram on July 10th to post a compulsory birthday message for Vergara. Manganiello's captioned tribute to Vergara read, "¡¡¡Feliz Cumpleaños Sofía!!!"
The lackluster message resulted in a reaction among his followers. One follower commented, "There seems to be something wrong. The message seemed impersonal towards her and he had two stories about his dog's birthday. Sofia hasn't even expressed gratitude."
