Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright came together on Saturday, April 13 to celebrate their son Cruz’s 3rd birthday. Despite announcing their separation in February, the Valley stars set aside any issues to make Cruz's day special.

The birthday party had a dinosaur theme and was held at a Sky Zone indoor trampoline park. The celebration included a balloon wall and themed desserts, with an impressive three-tiered dino cake stealing the show.

Unfortunately, the cake was ruined when the table it was on collapsed. Cartwright, 35, shared a video on her Instagram Stories with the caption "Just our luck lolllll" showing the incident. The staff at the venue tried to save the dessert, to which Cartwright commented, "You just gotta laugh."

Prior to the collapse, Cartwright had posted a picture of the cake on her Stories. She also reposted several videos from the event.

Cartwright and Taylor, 44, shared sweet social media posts for Cruz’s birthday on April 12. Taylor expressed love and pride for their son, calling him the best thing to happen to them. He feels blessed to be Cruz's dad, describing him as the kindest and happiest little boy. Taylor sees having Cruz as the greatest gift in his life and promises to always be by his side. He ends with a heartfelt message, thanking Cruz for making him a dad and expressing his love for his son on his 3rd birthday.

Cartwright also posted photos of Cruz on his birthday, expressing her love for her son and how proud she is to be his mother.

Cartwright and Taylor were together for almost a decade, married for four years, before announcing their separation. They worked together on Bravo's The Valley and continue to cohost their podcast "When Reality Hits."

In the latest cover story from We, Cartwright shared with Us that Taylor has not made an effort to work on their marriage yet. She mentioned that it is up to him to make changes in their relationship, and she expressed disappointment that he has not taken action so far.

Additionally, Cartwright pointed out that Taylor is a great father to Cruz, but he is not treating her well. Despite their relationship issues, they are successfully co-parenting and Cartwright noticed that Cruz appears happier now that they are not living together. This observation gives her insight into their situation.

Cartwright added that she doesn't believe Jax thought she would actually leave, as it has been three months now. She mentioned that Jax probably assumed she would return and everything would go back to normal, but that is not the case.

According to Cartwright, their relationship took a turn for the worse during the filming of The Valley. The show documents their journey through parenthood and marriage, and Cartwright stated that their relationship suffered as a result.

"We had always talked about expanding our family, but he began to question that," she shared. "We weren't connecting intimately. We were starting to annoy each other. I'm not perfect; I was also raising my voice at him. Things just started to go downhill. He was spending more time at the bar [Jax’s Studio City sports bar]. It all just kept adding up."

One of Cartwright's main worries was the lack of physical closeness between them, which Taylor dismissed with a simple "I'm 44 and I'm exhausted."

"I told Us that I don't want to be unhappy, in a sexless marriage, or constantly arguing with my husband for the rest of my life."
