Brittany Cartwright opened up about some previous conflicts with Jax Taylor, one of which involved money.

In a recent episode of Vanderpump Rules on Tuesday, April 23, Brittany, 35, returned to the screen after four years to give advice to Scheana Shay. Scheana, 38, became emotional as she talked about how her success had created issues in her relationship.

Scheana expressed her feelings about Brock always helping her, wondering if he feels unappreciated due to not making a large income. Brittany then asked if Scheana being the main provider caused tension between her and Brock. Scheana acknowledged that this may be the case for him.

Brittany shared that she experienced similar challenges with Jax, who is 44 years old. "I noticed a change in him when I started earning more money than him," she remembered. "It caused a lot of arguments between us."

Brittany added: “I think because they are such manly men, that can be something even if they don’t express it.”

Viewers of Vanderpump Rules got to know Jax and Brittany's relationship struggles when she became a part of the show in 2015. Despite facing challenges and a well-known cheating scandal, the couple remained on the series until their departure in 2020.

As fans eagerly awaited news about Jax and Brittany on The Valley, the couple surprised everyone by revealing in February that they are currently "taking a break" from their marriage.

Brittany addressed the questions about her relationship with Jax on their podcast "When Reality Hits." She emphasized the importance of being honest and real with their audience, as they have shared much of their lives with them. She wanted to clarify any misunderstandings and ensure transparency.

Acknowledging the speculation and rumors circulating online, Brittany decided to open up about the challenges they have been facing. She admitted that marriages can be tough, and she had experienced a particularly difficult year. As a result, she and Jax have decided to take some time apart. To prioritize her mental health, Brittany made the choice to move into a different home. She chose not to delve into too many specifics at the moment, as discussing this situation is still emotionally challenging for her.

In Season 1 of The Valley, Brittany hinted at feeling unhappy in her marriage to Jax. As new episodes continue to air, she opened up about how a lack of intimacy played a role in their marital struggles.

In a recent cover story with We, Brittany shared, "Keeping things romantic and spicy is crucial for making a marriage work. If we want to last 20 years, we have to keep the passion alive. But it has already faded so much. It was affecting my confidence - why wasn't he showing interest in me? I started to feel like I wasn't good enough." She continued, "When you feel like your partner doesn't desire you and is also treating you poorly, you start to question the relationship. It's like living with a roommate. I reached my breaking point."

Brittany proceeded to outline the steps that Jax should take to improve the situation.

"He really needs to step up and put in more effort. It's important for him to seek therapy, cut back on his time at the bar, and show me more respect. I shouldn't feel taken for granted," she explained. "I used to be the one closest to him, but it felt like I was constantly being criticized. I can't continue to tolerate that kind of treatment indefinitely."

Vanderpump Rules airs on Bravo Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET and The Valley airs at 9 p.m. ET. New episodes are available to stream on Peacock the next day.
