Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma's love story is like something out of a dream. According to an exclusive source in the latest issue of We, the couple is now stronger than ever after four years of marriage. The source mentioned that the downtime during the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes earlier this year actually brought them closer as a couple.
"They both had less work commitments and were able to reestablish their connection," the insider shared. "They had the chance to truly reconnect and spend a lot of time together as a family."
The happy times will surely keep coming as they celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary this month and get into the holiday spirit with their children, the source added. The couple has two daughters, Banks, 5, and Mae, 2. Duff is also the mother of son Luca, 11, from her previous marriage to Mike Comrie.
Duff and Koma, both 36, started the holiday season by sharing in their family card that they are expecting their third child together. "Surprise Surprise!" Duff captioned a picture of the card, showing off her baby bump. The back of the card featured individual photos of Luca, Banks, and Mae with the message, "Buckle up Buttercups, we’re adding one more to this crazy bunch!"
The couple has always connected over parenting. "We feel happier and more in love than ever," Duff said in an exclusive interview with Us in May 2019 after announcing her engagement to Koma. "We are looking forward to our long future together. He kind of surprised me, and I was like, 'Yes! Of course! You’re my favorite person in the whole entire world outside of my kids.'"

Duff and Koma first met in 2015 while working on her album Breathe In. Breathe Out., shortly after Duff's split from Comrie, 43. They had their first child, Banks, in October 2018 and got married in December of the next year in a small backyard ceremony that included their children.
In March 2021, Duff gave birth to their second daughter, Mae, and praised Koma for his steady support during her at-home water birth. “My husband is the calmest presence in the room when I feel overwhelmed,” Duff later wrote on Instagram.
Koma openly expresses his love and admiration for his wife, Duff. On her 33rd birthday in September 2021, he penned a heartfelt message about feeling fortunate to go through life with her. He praised her resilience during both the good and tough times and playfully teased her before ending the message with a loving declaration and a lighthearted comment about their intimacy.
Duff and Koma see parenting as a bonding experience, but they also prioritize keeping their romance alive, often through sports, as the How I Met Your Mother alum told Women’s Health in November.
