Despite being introduced in the first arc of Honkai: Star Rail, Sampo's background remains a mystery to avid players. Whenever he appears in the game, he is typically attempting to escape from the Silvermane Guards or swindling individuals in Belobog, including the Astral Express Crew. Fans have speculated about Sampo's true identity, with some suggesting he may be Sam the Stellaron Hunter, but Honkai: Star Rail has yet to confirm any of these theories.
Many fans of Honkai: Star Rail, particularly those with Nihility-heavy teams, include Sampo in their roster. One of his abilities, called Shining Bright, is a useful Technique that blinds enemies for 10 seconds when he throws a bomb at them. However, a Reddit user named baritzu pointed out a bug that has been causing Sampo to miss his bomb entirely. In a short video clip, they demonstrated Sampo throwing the bomb behind the enemy even though they were right in front of him. The user also questioned why Honkai: Star Rail had not fixed this issue yet.
In the comments, several other Honkai: Star Rail players confirmed experiencing the same bug. One player mentioned instances where the impairment would not work despite the bomb hitting the enemy. However, many players found this bug amusing, considering it aligned with Sampo's character. Some even jokingly suggested that Honkai: Star Rail was intentionally trolling players with this Sampo bug. As of now, HoYoverse has not addressed this issue, so players with Sampo in their lineup may want to avoid using his Technique until the bug is resolved.
The game Honkai: Star Rail has previously experienced numerous bugs and glitches that caused changes in character appearances, accidental wall-phasing, and significant game-breaking issues. For instance, Version 1.2's Everwinter City Museum event was affected by a bug that hindered progression. While some fans speculated these glitches may be due to hardware problems, it is possible that the Sampo bug is actually an in-game issue.
Currently, players of Honkai: Star Rail are getting ready for Version 1.4, which will introduce new characters Jingliu, Topaz, and Guinaifen. The update is set to launch next week, and it is hoped that the gameplay bugs will be fixed by then.
