Gerry Turner is sending his best wishes to ex Joan Vassos as she prepares to find love on The Golden Bachelorette.

Gerry, 72, wrote a heartfelt message to Joan on Instagram on Tuesday, May 14. He congratulated her on being named the first ever Golden Bachelorette and expressed his confidence in her ability to represent their generation with grace and excellence.

Before wrapping up his letter, the reality star offered Joan, 61, some advice as she embarks on her journey. He wrote, "From one golden to another, relax, breathe, and enjoy. Gerry."

Just hours before this message, ABC announced that Joan will be the first leading lady on the debut season of The Golden Bachelorette. Joan, originally from Maryland, was previously a contestant on The Golden Bachelor alongside Gerry. However, she had to leave during week 3 to take care of her daughter, who had just given birth. (The Golden Bachelor finale aired in November 2023.)

ABC assures that the grandmother and school administrator will bring their unique charm and grace as they search for their next partner. Joan will also demonstrate that everyone deserves a second chance at love.

Viewers are optimistic that The Golden Bachelorette will have a more successful outcome compared to Gerry's relationship with winner Theresa Nist.

Three months after getting married during a televised wedding on ABC in January, the pair announced they were separating and filing for divorce.

Theresa and I have had several discussions where we talked openly and honestly about our relationship. After carefully considering our living situation, we both agreed that it's best for us to end our marriage. Gerry mentioned on Good Morning America in April that living apart will bring more happiness to each of us and allow us to be closer to our families.

Many people in Bachelor Nation have been wondering about the reasons behind Gerry and Theresa's breakup since it was made public.

Tyler Cameron and others have shared their concerns about how the split might impact The Bachelor franchise.

"They have really tarnished the reputation of love in the Bachelor world," Tyler, who was the runner-up on Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette in 2019, expressed during an appearance on SiriusXM's The Happy Hour on April 17. "Three months? They make all my past relationships seem like a lifetime. I feel like a dating expert compared to them. It's disappointing to see love and Bachelor Nation being portrayed in such a negative light, especially when it used to bring so much joy to The Bachelor."

Fans can follow Joan's journey to finding love on The Golden Bachelorette, which will premiere on ABC this fall on Wednesdays and will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
