Players of Genshin Impact were left surprised when the revenue numbers from the recent Limited Character Banner, showcasing Lyney and Yelan, turned out to be lower than expected. This unexpected outcome left many disappointed, especially those who were eagerly anticipating Lyney's debut.
Lyney is most effective when teamed up with multiple Pyro users, possibly leading to some players overlooking his banner.
Yelan, a top-tier Hydro character, holds the record for highest revenue in Genshin Impact. Her versatile abilities make her one of the strongest Hydro characters in the game.
The revenue numbers of the previous Limited Character Banner in Genshin Impact, featuring the Pyro user Lyney and the Hydro bow character Yelan, are displayed on a chart. The game follows a strict update schedule, with new versions being released approximately every 6-7 weeks.
Each Genshin Impact update consists of two parts, each with its own selection of limited characters. The recent major update 4.0 introduced a new five-star character named Lyney, accompanied by his sister Lynette as part of the four-star lineup. With the expiration of this banner, HoYoverse is now preparing to introduce a new limited lineup, which will also include a new four-star unit named Freminet.
A Reddit user named BrotherJang has shared an interesting chart displaying the sales numbers for the recently featured Yelan and Lyney double banner. Surprisingly, the chart reveals that the banner ranks in the bottom 30% of all-time revenue, despite featuring one of the highly anticipated five-star characters, Lyney. Lyney was first introduced in 2020 through one of the game's early story teasers. One possible reason for this low performance could be that Lyney is not a versatile character and only thrives when placed in a team composition with multiple Pyro users.
When using Lyney, players typically surround him with two Pyro characters and a neutral support character like Kaedehara Kazuha. On the other hand, the five-star Hydro user Yelan remains one of the most popular characters in the game, as evidenced by holding Genshin Impact's revenue record. This record was achieved in version 3.4 when Yelan appeared on a banner alongside the Pyro polearm user Hu Tao.
Yelan, although capable of dealing significant damage, primarily fulfills the role of support or sub-DPS. Presently, she is regarded as one of, if not the top Hydro character available, due to her versatile skill set. Certain fans have observed that players have chosen to forgo summoning her banner in order to accumulate precious Primogems for future updates which will introduce highly anticipated characters, such as the Hydro Archon Furina.
Developer HoYoverse has officially announced that the upcoming Genshin Impact version 4.1 will introduce two catalyst users: Neuvillette and Wriothesley. As both are expected to be five-star characters, it is likely that their releases will be split across two separate summoning banners.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
