Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood plan to pay tribute to their dear friend and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, who passed away on November 19 at the age of 96. She was married to former president Jimmy Carter for 77 years.
A memorial service to honor Rosalynn will be held at Glenn Memorial Church at Emory University in Atlanta on Tuesday, November 28th at 1 p.m. Former President Carter, President Joe Biden, and First Lady Jill Biden are expected to attend. Brooks, 61, and Yearwood, 59, will perform at the event as announced by The Carter Center on their tribute website for Rosalynn. The 90-minute service at the church is limited to invited guests only.
Following Rosalynn’s passing, Brooks spoke candidly about the “tough” loss, noting that his wife, Yearwood, and the former first lady were “inseparable.”
Garth Brooks revealed at a recent press conference to promote his Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk in Nashville that President Carter affectionately refers to Trisha Yearwood as his "second favorite Georgia peach," as reported by People.
Brooks and Yearwood first met the Carters through their shared work with Habitat for Humanity. They developed a close friendship and in October, the couple took on the role of hosting the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they worked together to build 27 homes.
Describing the relationship, Brooks explained that Yearwood referred to Rosalynn Carter as her "quiet warrior," highlighting her quiet yet powerful demeanor. He also mentioned that Rosalynn taught Yearwood and others the valuable lesson that strength does not always have to be loud and that impactful statements can be made with just a few words. Rosalynn's ability to communicate this way was greatly admired by all.
