Wynonna Judd, 59, has released a revamped version of the iconic country hit "Cry Myself to Sleep," originally performed by The Judds more than three decades ago. Joining her on the track is fellow country legend Trisha Yearwood, creating a seamless blend of country, pop, and rock. The new rendition of the song was released on September 29.

Judd and Yearwood sing about the mistreatment they endure, with friends questioning why they tolerate it. The emotional toll becomes evident as they express their desire to go home and cry themselves to sleep.

"Cry Myself to Sleep" serves as the second single from the highly anticipated album, A Tribute to the Judds. This record will showcase renowned artists such as Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Jellyroll, Reba McEntire, Carly Pearce, LeAnn Rimes, Ashley McBryde, and Dolly Parton as they perform 14 iconic songs that made the mother-daughter duo famous.

“To have

all these amazing artists, many of whom are dear friends of mine, come together and contribute their voices and artistic talents to recreate these songs is truly remarkable,” expressed Wynonna in a statement revealing the album's release on October 27. “These songs possess an undying essence, and I am filled with anticipation for their preservation to inspire future generations.”

The album originally aimed to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Judds signing their first record contract. However, it was expanded to include a collaboration with the National Alliance of Mental Illness after Naomi tragically died by suicide at the age of 76 in April 2022.

During the 2023 People's Choice Country Awards on September 28, Wynonna attended and paid homage to her late mother while accepting the Country Champion Award. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, "After graduating high school in 1982, I secured a record deal with RCA records in 1983. For the next 10 years, I traveled on a silver Eagle bus alongside my mother, styling her hair each night, without any charge. It all began there. A decade later, she retired, and I continued to pave the way for women in country music, making 'herstory'."

Wynonna also shared the sorrowful memory of losing her mother. "I entered the room, cradled her in my arms, kissed her forehead, closed her eyes, and whispered, 'I love you, Mom'," she recounted. "Then, I left the room, went home, and the next morning, I showed up at the Country Music Hall of Fame for my induction. You know why? Because my love for music is unwavering, regardless of what I've been through. I always show up and give it my all."

The original rendition of "Cry Myself to Sleep" was penned by Paul Kennerly and performed by The Judds for their 1985 album, Rockin' with the Rhythm. Released as the album's fourth single, "Cry Myself to Sleep" ascended to the pinnacle of the Billboard US Hot Country Songs chart in 1987, holding the No. 1 spot for one week. According to Billboard, the song spent a total of 16 weeks on the country chart.
