Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis appears to have spoken out about her recent DUI arrest. The 32-year-old reality TV personality was taken into custody on Monday, May 20, after allegedly driving under the influence. The incident occurred during a three-car crash in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

On Wednesday, May 29, she mentioned the incident with an inspiring quote on her Instagram Stories, where posts vanish after 24 hours.

The quote she shared read, "You can be here today and gone tomorrow. Remember to be grateful, humble, appreciative, kind, and loving."

Days after Dennis’ arrest, TMZ released a video showing her emotional reaction as she was being handcuffed and taken into custody.

In the footage posted by TMZ on Thursday, May 23, Dennis can be heard saying, “Y’all are ruining my life. And my kids’ lives. Thanks for nothing. You didn’t even do a field sobriety test to know if you’re legit or not. No, you sure didn’t. You didn’t do a blood alcohol test. Maybe I don’t have the best balance in the whole wide world, but you sure didn’t confirm what you were doing.”

Local police officers had requested Dennis to walk in a straight line.

"I understand what's going on. It's ridiculous, my ex is a criminal. I know the drill. This is unfair," she expressed, possibly mentioning ex Thomas Ravenel, the father of her two children. "I don't care about myself, but my kids? I shouldn't be in this situation. I'm sorry you believe otherwise."

When the police officer fastened her seatbelt, she started to cry uncontrollably.

"I need my dog," she cried out. "I want my little puppy. Please, can you let me go... I'll take legal action against you. No, I just want my dog. He's my whole world!"

Dennis had her first DUI, despite her ongoing battle with substance abuse. Her struggles have impacted her custody fight with Ravenel for their children Kensie and Saint.

In 2016, Dennis lost custody due to her marijuana use. Following her sobriety, she regained shared custody in 2018. However, she faced another temporary loss of custody in 2021.

Ravenel's attorney confirmed last week that Ms. Dennis currently has weekend, daytime supervised visitation with the parties' minor children. Additionally, Mr. Ravenel plans to relocate with the children to Aiken, South Carolina this summer. Due to the sensitive nature of the issues, all documents in this case have been sealed. This means that the public does not have access to them, and neither Mr. Ravenel, Ms. Dennis, nor their respective attorneys are allowed to release them to third parties.

Editor's P/S:

It is heartbreaking to witness the ongoing struggles of Kathryn Dennis as she navigates her personal and legal issues. Her recent DUI arrest serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of substance abuse. The fact that she has faced multiple custody battles with her ex-partner, Thomas Ravenel, further underscores the impact of her addiction on her children.

While Dennis's Instagram post and statements to police officers indicate a sense of frustration and injustice, it is important to recognize that she is ultimately responsible for her actions. Her alleged refusal to cooperate with field sobriety and blood alcohol tests raises concerns about her commitment to sobriety. As she faces the legal consequences of her arrest, it is crucial that she prioritizes her well-being and seeks professional help to address her substance abuse issues. The well-being of her children and her own future depend on it.
