Southern Charm alum Kathryn Dennis, 32, found herself in trouble recently when she was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence on Monday, May 20. She was taken into custody by the police in Goose Creek, South Carolina, following her involvement in a three-car crash that evening, as reported by TMZ.

When officers arrived, they noticed that Dennis had glossy eyes and smelled of alcohol. They also found an open container in her car.

Although this was Dennis' first DUI arrest, she has a history of getting in trouble with the law.

The former reality star has been in the news for her battles with substance abuse, which has been a major issue during her custody battle with ex Thomas Ravenel.

The couple, who have two children together, Kensie and Saint, went through a tough legal fight over their kids after they separated in 2016. Dennis ended up losing custody of the children as she worked on getting sober, focusing on her struggles with marijuana.

In 2017, Dennis was granted 50/50 custody after getting clean. Two years later, Ravenel accused her of failing a drug test.

The next year, in October 2018, Dennis requested a change in their agreement. This came after Ravenel was arrested for assault and battery in the second degree. The arrest was related to a 2015 incident with the former couple's nanny. As a result of the scandal, Ravenel was fired from Southern Charm after season 6. (The lawsuit was resolved in 2019.)

In August 2019, a judge made a temporary decision that Dennis and Ravenel would share joint custody.

In March 2021, Ravenel's lawyers revealed that there was a new custody arrangement, leading to Dennis temporarily losing custody of Kensie and Saint. During this time, Dennis was allowed supervised weekend visits with her children.

Dennis announced her departure from Southern Charm in January 2023 after being a part of the Bravo series for eight seasons.

In a statement to People, she reflected on her time on the show, saying, "What a wild ride it’s been! Can you believe I was 21 when I first started filming Southern Charm back in 2013, its first season? Over the past decade, my life has changed in ways I never could have imagined. It hasn’t always been easy, but I feel fortunate to have had reality cameras capturing so many unforgettable moments (and a few I'd like to forget)."

Dennis expressed her gratitude towards her fans for supporting her journey from being a single girl to a mother of two.

She acknowledged the love and strength that her fans have given her throughout this transition, making her feel supported and not alone. She expressed her deep appreciation for the love she has received and will carry it with her as she moves on to the next chapter of her life, away from the spotlight of Southern Charm. Dennis also thanked Bravo, the producers at Haymaker, and her cast mates in Charleston for their support and everything they have done for her.

This story is still developing.
