Princess Diana's family keeps her memory alive. She was the youngest child of John Spencer and Frances Shand Kydd. Diana had two older sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, as well as a younger brother, Charles Spencer. Sadly, before Diana was born, her parents had a son named John Spencer in 1960, but he passed away shortly after birth.
Diana’s parents split in 1969, and her father gained custody of her and her siblings. During this difficult time, Charles and Diana grew closer as their older sisters were away at school.
In a 2020 interview with The Sunday Times, Charles shared, “Diana and I had two older sisters who were away at school, so she and I were very much in it together and I did talk to her about it.” He described their father as a quiet and constant source of love, while their mother struggled with motherhood due to being in love with someone else.
Diana had a close relationship with her sisters, despite being close with Charles. Sarah dated King Charles III briefly before introducing him to Diana.
In 1981, Diana and the monarch got married. They had two sons, Prince William in June 1982 and Prince Harry in September 1984. Unfortunately, the couple divorced in 1996 and Diana passed away in a car accident in Paris the next year.
