'Summer House: Martha's Vineyard' star Jasmine Ellis Cooper reveals her husband Silas, an Army Reserve member, will unfortunately miss the birth of their son due to his deployment

Jasmine Ellis Cooper, a cast member on Summer House: Martha's Vineyard, expressed her excitement for the upcoming birth of her son. However, she also revealed her disappointment that her husband, Silas Cooper, won't be able to attend the delivery. Despite being thousands of miles away, Silas has been supportive in his own way. Jasmine feels comforted knowing that her housemates will be there for her during this time. Both Jasmine and Silas are independent individuals, so they are each staying strong in their respective roles while being physically apart.

Silas, aged 32, took to Instagram in March 2022 to inform his followers that he had successfully attained the position of a commissioned officer in the Army Reserve. He achieved this after undergoing training, which required him to relocate 1000 miles away from his residence in New York City. Hailing from Liberia, Silas mentioned that one of the factors motivating his decision to join the Army Reserve was the warm welcome his family and he received from America during a period when his home country was experiencing conflicts.

Moving on, Jasmine surprised her Instagram followers in November with the joyful news of her and Silas expecting their first child. "Silas and I are eagerly looking forward to welcoming Baby Cooper in February 2024!" she excitedly shared on the platform.

Fellow cast member Bria Fleming noticed a change in Jasmine's appearance, leading her to suspect that she might be pregnant. When Bria first saw her, she noticed that her boobs looked larger and wondered if she had gotten a boob job. However, when she asked Jasmine about it, she denied having any surgery. Despite this, Bria's suspicion was confirmed when she later found out that Jasmine was indeed pregnant. The noticeable change in her breast size was what gave it away for Bria.

Jasmine and Silas, who met on the Hinge dating app, got engaged in 2021 and tied the knot in June 2022 in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. When it came to starting a family, the former Playboy Bunny had no concerns about the gender of their future child.

"I simply desired a healthy baby, to be honest. The gender didn't matter to us," Jasmine conveyed. "We were filled with excitement as we embarked on starting our family and entering a new phase of our lives last year. It was a challenging time, with my husband being away in the military, but we are fortunate to have a supportive community and wonderful friends. It feels like a promising beginning to something fresh." As they filmed the second season of the series during the summer, Jasmine noticed the absence of Silas and missed his presence.

“He introduced me to Martha Vineyard,” she commented.” So him not being there felt odd.”

Bria also felt that their Summer House family was incomplete.

"He brought a certain energy to our friend group, always moving about the house with a contagious happiness. His absence is definitely felt, as he used to diffuse a lot of the drama," Bria shared with Us. "There's a void without him. We truly miss him. We've tried doing a few FaceTimes, but it's just not the same."

Bravo debuted the original Summer House in January 2017, showcasing a tight-knit group of friends who rented a house in the Hamptons during weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Its popularity sparked the creation of two spinoffs: Winter House and Summer House: Martha's Vineyard.

A Bravo employee came across a photo of Silas and his friends enjoying a vacation on Martha's Vineyard on Instagram and reached out to him to join the series. Filming for the first season of the Vineyard series occurred over a span of 15 days in the town of Edgartown during the late summer of 2022. Following the successful premiere of season 1 in May 2023, season 2 is scheduled to premiere in 2024.

Fleming mentioned that the cast received a warm welcome from the local residents when they returned to the vineyard in August 2023.

“It was a whirlwind of activities, numerous outings, and the restoration of many relationships,” she remarked. “Our presence became well-known and appreciated by the community.”

In season 1, drama unfolded when Mariah Torres was expelled from the house in the third episode. This occurred after she engaged in a heated argument with Bria and pushed her. Mariah, aged 32, did not make any further appearances in the remaining five episodes of the season.

Although Jasmine did not disclose detailed information about season two, she assured that it will offer a highly entertaining experience.

“It’s a different roller coaster this season. I know we took you guys on a roller coaster last season,” she said. “Emotional, but this season you’re going to enjoy the ride.”
