Exclusive: Kylian Mbappe's Crucial Meeting with PSG President Sparks Intense Transfer Speculation

Kylian Mbappe's uncertain future at Paris Saint-Germain intensifies as he prepares to meet with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi this week The 22-year-old forward has made it clear he won't extend his contract, which expires in 2024 PSG demands an extension or a summer sale Stay updated on the transfer saga through Sky Sports

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Kylian Mbappe will finally meet on Tuesday, marking their first encounter since the controversial letter incident. In June, Mbappe sent a letter to PSG clearly expressing his refusal to extend his contract beyond 2024. This decision indicates the possibility of him departing the club without any transfer fee next year, a scenario that Al-Khelaifi fervently seeks to prevent.

The French forward later clarified that he had not requested permission from the club to join the Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid, who have previously attempted and failed to sign him.

He has been given until July 31st to confirm his commitment to remain at PSG until at least the summer of 2025. Failure to do so will result in his sale to the highest bidder in the upcoming month.

Al-Khelaifi is scheduled to deliver a speech to the entire team at their newly built £250m training facility tomorrow. During the address, he will emphasize the significance of PSG as an establishment and urge the squad to fully endorse their new head coach, Luis Enrique.

Mbappe made his return to PSG training on Monday after informing the club about his departure at the end of his contract next summer. He underwent routine medical examinations and is set to resume full training on Tuesday.

PSG squad members who represented their nations in June were not required to report back until Monday. Neymar, who underwent ankle surgery in March, is currently at the new training facility, focusing on his rehabilitation. The team is scheduled to face Le Havre in a friendly match on Friday, following which they will travel to Japan for their pre-season tour.

What have Al-Khelaifi and Mbappe said about each other?

A statement from Mbappe's entourage in early June:

After publicly stating in recent weeks that he will be staying in Paris for the upcoming season, Kylian Mbappe did not request a transfer this summer. Instead, he simply informed the club that he would not be activating his additional year. The club management, responsible for handling his contract extension signed on May 21, 2022, was notified of this decision on July 15, 2022. The purpose of the letter was solely to confirm what had already been discussed verbally.

Mbappe and his team assert that, apart from the recent announcement about sending the letter, they have not revisited this issue with the club throughout the year. Additionally, there has been no mention of a potential contract extension.

Ultimately, Mbappe and his associates express disappointment that the letter's receipt was leaked to the media, insinuating that these public exchanges aim to tarnish his image and disrupt ongoing discussions with the club.

Mbappe was PSG's top scorer last season

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi speaking in early July:

I have a clear stance on this matter. I do not wish to reiterate it repeatedly: if Kylian intends to remain, we want him to stay. However, it is crucial that he signs a fresh agreement.

Allowing the best player in the world to leave without compensation is not acceptable. We simply cannot permit this to happen. After all, we are a French club.

Who will be on the move this summer when the transfer window opens on June 14 and closes at 11pm on September 1 in England and midnight in Scotland? He made it clear that he would never depart without a fee. If he were to change his mind today, it is not my responsibility. It is evident that we cannot afford to let go of the unparalleled talent of the world's finest player without receiving proper compensation.
