Get ready for the highly anticipated premiere of Star Wars: Ahsoka on Disney Plus. To keep fans engaged, new cardboard cutouts featuring the show's characters are now available. This unique merchandise is sure to spark interesting conversations when someone walks in and discovers their partner's new 2D friends.
Leaks of Ahsoka merchandise recently unveiled the return of Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker, signaling a shift towards product listings as a source of information. However, this latest announcement is more of a confirmation of what we already know. It focuses on the appearances of characters that have already been revealed. Ahsoka will introduce beloved characters from the animated series Star Wars Rebels in their live-action debuts. This includes the skilled Mandalorian, Sabine Wren, and the talented Twi'lek pilot, Hera Syndulla. Fans can now catch a glimpse of how these characters will be portrayed in a more realistic manner before the show premieres.
According to Advanced Graphics, a series of cardboard standees showcases the returning characters in a fashion runway-inspired set-up amidst intense space battles. Ahsoka Tano, portrayed by Rosario Dawson, along with Sabine, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and Hera, portrayed by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, exude a ready-for-action attitude or perhaps a captivating photo shoot. The collection also includes C1-10P (also known as Chopper), the beloved war crime droid from Rebels, whose reputation for chaos is so notorious that a simple search for the character on Google automatically suggests "Star Wars Chopper kill count."
In the last episode of Rebels, Sabine embarked on a journey with Ahsoka to find Ezra Bridger, the brave Jedi who cunningly outsmarted Grand Admiral Thrawn and saved the Rebellion. In this upcoming appearance, Sabine's new look closely resembles her final scene, sporting shorter hair and a slightly less polished Mandalorian armor. During her audition, Bordizzo exuded the spirit of a young Han Solo, perfectly capturing Sabine's rebellious and fiery nature portrayed in this image.
Hera has a fresh appearance that still remains familiar to Rebels fans. She wears a new jacket with a cozy fleece collar, while retaining the orange pants and goggles that represent her iconic look from the animated series. Winstead's portrayal of Hera Syndulla will likely emphasize the serious side of her character, considering the losses she endured in Rebels, including the brave sacrifice of her love, Jedi Kanan Jarrus. However, this does not mean she will be emotionally withdrawn, as she will be accompanied by her son Jacen, who will have a new look as revealed in a recent Ahsoka LEGO set.
The appearance of each character remarkably stays true to their original depictions in Rebels. Ahsoka's style combines elements from her previous looks since her debut in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, while Chopper retains its familiar design from Rebels and its brief appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The show has certainly nailed the visual aspect. Now, we can only hope that Chopper's characteristic disregard for life remains as delightfully intact as always.
Star Wars: Ahsoka will premiere its first 2 episodes on Disney Plus on August 23rd, 2023.
