Mortal Kombat 1 is a revitalized edition of the well-known fighting game franchise, showcasing updated renditions of iconic characters. Among the roster, recently announced playable characters include Shao Khan and Sindel.

Although several beloved characters have already been unveiled, there are still individuals like Jade who have not been shown yet. However, her close ties to Kitana and Mileena suggest she is highly probable to be included.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Jade in Mortal Kombat 1. Although her appearance hasn't been confirmed yet, Ed Boon is aware of the overwhelming demand for the green-clad bodyguard. Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot of NetherRealm's iconic fighting game series, featuring updated versions of classic characters such as Reptile, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and many others. Recently, it was announced that Shao Khan and Sindel will be playable characters during Gamescom 2023.

While several beloved characters have already been confirmed for Mortal Kombat 1, there are still a number of them who haven't been seen as main fighters or supporting characters. One such character is Jade, the longtime friend and protector of Princess Kitana. Jade was introduced as a secret character in Mortal Kombat 2 and later made her full debut in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Initially serving Shao Khan, she then switches sides and fights for Earthrealm alongside Kitana. Her most recent appearance was in Mortal Kombat 11, where she is revealed to be in a relationship with Kotal Kahn, the new ruler of Outworld.

Jade remains a beloved character for fans, as evidenced by AEW wrestler Jade Cargill dressing as her during the Revolution pay-per-view in 2022. However, fans have expressed disappointment that Jade has not yet made an appearance in Mortal Kombat 1. In a recent interview with IGN, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon acknowledged the increasing demand for Jade in the game, drawing parallels to the calls for Mileena to be included in MK 11 before she was added as a DLC character.

Though Ed Boon did not confirm Jade's appearance in Mortal Kombat 1, many believe that she would naturally fit into the game's roster and storyline. One of the confirmed subplots of Mortal Kombat 1 revolves around the revised relationship between Kitana and Mileena, now portrayed as sisters and twin heirs to the throne of Outworld. While initially on good terms, hints suggest that Mileena's Tarkat disease may lead to a clash between them, and Jade could be introduced into this storyline as Kitana's loyal follower, as she was in the original MK timeline.

Mortal Kombat 1 will feature a total of 24 playable characters upon release, with 20 of them already revealed. With this in mind, there remains ample opportunity for Jade to be included in the base line-up of MK 1, especially considering her strong connections to Kitana and Mileena. Even if Jade does not appear in the initial roster, there is still a possibility for her to be added through a future DLC pack or as a cameo fighter. While nothing has been confirmed at this point, it is worth noting that Ed Boon is aware of the fan demand to see Jade in the upcoming Mortal Kombat game.

Set to release on September 19, Mortal Kombat 1 will be available on PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
