Dua Lipa, 28, is a world-famous singer, but there was a time when she faced challenges even getting into her school choir.

In a video posted on Trixie Mattel's YouTube channel on March 18, Lipa opened up about her early struggles. While trying to recreate the cover of her new album, Radical Optimism, with paint, she reflected on her failed choir audition.

"The music teacher asked during an assembly, 'Who wants to sing and try out for the choir?' I decided to give it a shot and stood up in front of the whole school. As he played the piano, I tried to hit a high note but only air came out, causing the whole school to burst into laughter."

"After the failed attempt, the music teacher simply said, 'Better luck next time.' Despite this, I eventually joined the choir, singing in the lower range."

Lipa shared that she discovered her voice outside of traditional schooling. She attended singing lessons at a theater school in London every Saturday, where her teacher played a crucial role in boosting her confidence.

Despite being known as "the scariest teacher," Lipa acknowledged that he saw her potential and encouraged her to improve her skills, leading her to become the successful star she is today.

Earlier this month, Lipa revealed that her third studio album, Radical Optimism, is set to be released on Friday, May 3. The album cover reflects its title, showing Lipa swimming alone in the ocean with a shark nearby. The tracklist includes her recent hit "Houdini" as well as songs like "End of an Era," "French Exit," and "Anything for Love."

Lipa mentioned in an interview with T Magazine in August 2023 that her latest album, Radical Optimism, has a different sound compared to her previous releases. She described it as still being pop, but with a unique sonic quality and a more prominent lyrical theme. She reassured fans that this new direction in her music will not push them away.

During the same interview, Lipa playfully avoided addressing rumors of a potential collaboration with Kevin Parker from Tame Impala. In November 2022, she posted photos on social media of herself enjoying wine in a setting that resembled Parker's home in Los Angeles. When questioned about the speculation, Lipa jokingly replied, "I have no idea what you're talking about."
