Drake's Surprising Collab: Pet Shop Boys Team Up with Rap Superstar on New Hit

Drake's latest album release stirs up controversy as the Pet Shop Boys accuse him of using their hit chorus without permission Discover the heated dispute surrounding Drake's eighth studio album

Drake recently released his eighth studio album, which has been met with some controversy. The English band, the Pet Shop Boys, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Friday to call out the Canadian singer. This occurred on the same day that Drake released his album titled "For All the Dogs."

The band's tweet mentioned how surprising it was to hear @Drake singing the chorus of "West End Girls" in his new album's song "All the Parties." They pointed out that no credit was given or permission requested. In the song "Parties," Drake sings the chorus of "West End Girls," which is a hit song by the Pet Shop Boys from their 1986 album "Please."

CNN has reached out to representatives of Drake for comment.

Earlier this year, Drake unveiled his poetry book "Titles Ruin Everything," accompanied by the announcement of an album that he created to complement the book. In response to those longing for his earlier musical style, he declared, "They say they miss the old Drake, girl don't tempt me. For all the devoted fans."

Following the release of his new album last Friday, the artist revealed his intention to take a substantial break from the public eye in order to prioritize his well-being. During his appearance on the SiriusXM's Sound 42 show "Table for One" on Friday morning, he mentioned, "I anticipate a pause in my music production for the time being."

"I need to focus on my health, first and foremost," Drake explained. "Nothing crazy, but just, like, you know, I want people to be healthy in life."
