Is Drake feuding with Anna Wintour?

Fans have noticed that during his It's All a Blur tour with 21 Savage, the 36-year-old rapper showcases unsettling visuals that seem to depict the 73-year-old Vogue editor-in-chief in a negative light.

During Drake's performance at the Madison Square Garden show in New York City on Wednesday, July 26, a striking image resembling Wintour with a bloodied mouth and golden teeth was projected on the large screens. The look-alike, sporting a bob with blunt bangs reminiscent of the renowned journalist, also emitted a sinister laugh. (View the visuals in the attached clip.)

These visuals accompanied Drake's rendition of his popular track "Jimmy Cooks," which includes the lyrics, "Bitch, don't claim to be a model if you haven't been featured in Vogue."

It is unclear if there is a conflict between Drake and Wintour, but Drake previously experienced a lawsuit from Condé Nast in November 2022. The media company sued Drake and 21 Savage for using a counterfeit Vogue magazine cover to promote their collaborative album, Her Loss.

During that time, Condé's general counsel, William Bowes, commented on the issue, stating, "As a creative company, we acknowledge that our brands may occasionally be referenced in other creative works."

He stated, "However, it was evident to us in this particular case that Drake and 21 Savage exploited Vogue's reputation for their own commercial gain, causing confusion among our audience who rely on Vogue as the leading voice on fashion and culture."

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court, alleged that "Vogue magazine and its editor-in-chief Anna Wintour had no involvement in Her Loss or its promotion, and did not endorse it in any manner." The legal documents further stated, "Condé Nast did not authorize, and certainly did not support, the creation and widespread distribution of a fake edition of Vogue, or a counterfeit version of one of the most meticulously crafted covers in the entire publication industry."

A federal judge ultimately ruled in favor of Vogue, prompting Drake and 21 Savage to remove the counterfeit Vogue cover. According to Variety, the lawsuit between Drake and 21 Savage was resolved in February for an undisclosed sum. Neither Drake nor Wintour has responded to We's inquiry regarding the tour visuals for "It's All a Blur."
