Gerry Turner has officially filed for divorce from Theresa Nist. Turner, who is 72 years old, submitted the paperwork to end their marriage in Petersburg, Indiana. The filing took place on Friday, April 12, which is also noted as the date when they separated. The reason cited for the divorce is the "irretrievable breakdown" of their marriage.

Earlier on Good Morning America, Turner and Nist, 70, announced their decision to end their relationship.

During the broadcast on Friday, Turner shared, “Theresa and I have had many heartfelt discussions. We have carefully examined our living arrangements and have both agreed that it is time for us to go our separate ways. What stands out the most from our talks is the deep commitment we both have to our families. After considering all factors, we believe that living apart will ultimately lead to our individual happiness.”

Turner expressed, "I still have strong feelings for this person, I support her every day."

They have a prenuptial agreement and are also planning to return their Neil Lane wedding and engagement rings as per the contract.

Turner and Nist met on season 1 of The Golden Bachelor and got engaged during the November 2023 finale. They tied the knot two months later in January and were planning to purchase a home together in either New Jersey or South Carolina.

According to a source who spoke to Us magazine, Turner was staying in his Indiana home while Nist was based in New Jersey for work. During their GMA appearance on Friday, Nist mentioned that they hadn't finalized any plans for house-hunting. "We checked out houses in South Carolina and also thought about New Jersey," she shared. "We saw many homes, but we never got to the stage of making a decision."
