Summer House star Carl Radke recently revealed when he had a conversation with his parents about Lindsay Hubbard. According to Carl, the conversation took place five days after a big fight with drug accusations during the second weekend.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Thursday, May 9, Carl, who is 39 years old, shared that his mom has been filming with them every season. He mentioned that he was going to have the conversation with his parents regardless of the situation they were in.
Carl opened up to his mom, Sharon, and his stepdad, Lou, about his relationship problems with his then-fiancée Lindsay, 37, in the 10th episode of Summer House last month. During the conversation, Carl's stepdad, who is also an ordained minister, expressed reservations about officiating the couple's wedding due to Lindsay accusing Carl of relapsing into drinking during the season.
Even though the episode aired later in the Summer House season, Carl clarified on WWHL that the conversation actually took place early in the summer of 2023. He mentioned that it was unexpected for him.
Carl was surprised by the direction the conversation took. After returning home, he held on to his parents' words for about a week. During Thursday's WWHL appearance, he mentioned that he attempted to address the issue in couples therapy. The audience got to see this unfold on tonight's episode as he made an effort to clear the air with his partner.
Summer House’s Carl Radke Clarifies When Conversation With Parents About Marriage Really Went Down
Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard were featured in last week's episode, which aired on May 2. During the episode, Carl briefly mentioned to Lindsay about a conversation, but forgot to mention the important detail that Lou said he "would not marry" them. Lindsay felt this omission made things "awkward" between herself and Sharon at her bridal shower. In another scene, Carl sat down with Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula to share more details of the conversation with his parents.
The trio realized that Carl needed to be honest with Lindsay before she saw the scene with his parents on TV. When he finally told Lindsay what Lou had said, Carl became emotional.
During an interview on WWHL, Carl opened up about his fears, saying, "In couples therapy, I expressed my fear of this coming out later on when we're married and it being a blindside." He was further questioned about why he kept Lou's comment from Lindsay.
Summer House season 8 has mainly been about the relationship between Carl and Lindsay before their wedding. They were supposed to get married in November 2023, but unfortunately, they called off their engagement in August of that year.
During WWHL, Carl mentioned that he feels confident in his decision and has learned a lot about himself by watching this season.
Summer House airs on Bravo Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET and is available to stream on Peacock the next day.
