Former Bachelor Bob Guiney is curious about why Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist ended their marriage so soon.
During a chat on the "Almost Famous" podcast with Ashley Iaconetti and Trista Sutter, Bob, 52, questioned the quick downfall of their relationship. He mentioned that it seemed odd to let someone spend a large sum of money on a televised wedding, only to have it end abruptly.
The Bachelor season 4 star questioned if Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 70, were open to couples counseling before rushing into marriage. They later revealed on Nightline that they did seek counseling at some point in their relationship.
Gerry proposed to Theresa during the Golden Bachelor season finale in November 2023. Their wedding was broadcasted live on television on January 4. However, just three months after saying "I do," the couple announced their decision to divorce.
"They might not have the typical married life right now since they are living apart," he said. "Maybe they just need to take a moment and figure out how to make things work."
Bachelor Bob Guiney Speculates Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist Marriage Was Fundamentally Flawed
Days before their announcement of splitting up, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist Disney from John & Joseph Photography were not living together, even though they were looking for a new house. Gerry stayed in Indiana while Theresa remained in her New Jersey home. In their Good Morning America interview on Friday, they revealed that this living situation played a big role in their decision to end their relationship.
Bob shared during the "Almost Famous" podcast that whether you want the divorce or not, it's still a tough situation. He mentioned that when you truly love someone, you shouldn't take that step without trying everything to make it work.
After his season on The Bachelor in 2003, Bob left with Estella Gardinier, but they didn't get engaged and broke up after the show. He later married Rebecca Budig in 2004, but they divorced in 2010. Bob is now happily married to Jessica Canyon.
"It's difficult for me to accept the fact that they're getting divorced because they've always lived apart as a couple," he said. "I find it hard to believe that not living together is the reason for their divorce."
Editor's P/S:
It is puzzling why Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist's marriage ended so abruptly, especially considering the lavish televised wedding they had. Former Bachelor Bob Guiney raises valid concerns about the couple's hasty decision to marry and questions whether they explored all options, such as couples counseling, before taking such a drastic step. The fact that they were living apart even before announcing their divorce raises further questions about the viability of their relationship.
Guiney's personal experiences with divorce provide a unique perspective on the situation. Having gone through two divorces himself, he understands the complexities and challenges involved. His belief that one should exhaust all efforts to save a marriage before resorting to divorce is a valuable reminder of the importance of commitment and perseverance in relationships.
