Bachelor's Lauren Bushnell Lane Grapples with Maternal Guilt Amid Work Commitments

Struggling to find harmony between motherhood, work, and relationships, 'Bachelor' alum Lauren Bushnell Lane opens up about the challenges she faces after welcoming her second son

Bachelor alum Lauren Bushnell Lane, 33, recently discussed the challenges of juggling work and motherhood during an Instagram Story Q&A on November 29. When asked about her well-being, she admitted to feeling "emo."

"I often feel torn between being a great mom and dedicating time to my kids, and maintaining my work performance and adult friendships," she wrote. "At times, I feel like I'm failing as a mom when I focus on other aspects of my life. I haven't found the perfect balance yet, but my natural instinct is to prioritize my kids because I truly love being a mom!"

Bushnell Lane and her husband Chris Lane welcomed their sons Dutton and Baker in June 2021 and October 2022, respectively. Parenthood has brought changes to her relationship with Lane, 38, whom she married in October 2019.

“I do miss having alone time with Chris and traveling together and I miss seeing friends often,” expressed Bushnell Lane on Wednesday. “So yeah, emo.”

Bushnell Lane has previously shared her thoughts on the difficulties of motherhood. In February, she told Us exclusively that the adjustment to becoming a family of four has been "chaotic" yet "fun."

She also mentioned, "It's definitely one of those things where I'm sure one day we'll look back and it'll be too quiet in our house. So I'm trying not to take it for granted or wish away time, but it can be a little stressful at times."

Several months later, the former reality star opened up about her struggles with postpartum anxiety on fellow Bachelor Nation alum Shawn Booth’s “In The Booth” podcast. “I definitely experienced postpartum anxiety. I was constantly on edge,” she shared in July. “I eventually began taking medication for anxiety. It's not a long-term solution, but it's necessary for me right now.”

While facing challenges as a new mother, Bushnell Lane is open to the idea of growing her family. Recently, she humorously mentioned on Instagram, "This haircut makes me want baby #3 @iamchrislane," in reference to a photo of her husband with a new buzz cut.

Before their children were born, Lane told Us exclusively that his wife aspired to have a large family. "Lauren grew up with three other siblings," he revealed in May 2020, admitting that he would be content with just two kids. "She probably wants a lot based on what I've heard."
