Bachelor Nation's John Henry Spurlock Stands by His Proposal to Kat Izzo
Former 'Bachelor in Paradise' contestant John Henry Spurlock defends his decision to propose to ex-girlfriend Kat Izzo, claiming it was not a mistake

John Henry Spurlock, a former contestant on Bachelor in Paradise, has expressed no resentment following the end of his engagement to Kat Izzo.
"Thank you for the support," the 31-year-old shared in an Instagram post on Tuesday, December 12. "To those who have negative comments based on a manipulated reality dating show, I have no regrets about choosing her."
After appearing on Charity Lawson's Bachelorette season earlier this year, John Henry recently posted a series of photos with Kat, 27, before their breakup. He expressed his genuine feelings for her and wished her the best in her future endeavors, acknowledging her kindness and dedication to their relationship. John recognized the amazing person Kat is and encouraged her to continue pursuing her dreams and thriving in her career as a nurse practitioner in San Diego.
John Henry proposed to Kat, 27, during the BiP season 9 finale, which aired on Thursday, December 7. The couple announced their split less than one week later.
We have decided to end our relationship with mutual love and respect. Our time together has been filled with cherished memories and personal growth, and we had hoped to share that with all of you. However, due to differences in our career goals, our paths are now taking separate directions. We are grateful for the love and support of our family, friends, and Bachelor Nation. This was a difficult decision, but we believe it is the right step for both of us as individuals. As we move forward, we ask for your ongoing support and respect for our privacy during this transition.
Kat made her debut in Bachelor Nation on Zach Shallcross' season, and her BiP journey got off to a rocky start. She was initially getting to know Brayden Bowers and Tanner Courtad before John Henry entered the picture. Although he briefly connected with Olivia Lewis, John Henry ultimately chose to pursue a relationship with Kat.
In the finale of BiP, Kat delivered a heartfelt pre-proposal speech, expressing that she had never felt as comfortable and connected with someone as quickly as she had with John Henry.

"I spent a lot of time questioning myself and thinking this was too good to be true, waiting for something bad to happen because how could something so wonderful come so easily," she confided. "It's thanks to you that I'm standing here now, happy and completely at peace. I am completely and wholeheartedly in love with you."
John Henry had some reservations about their engagement but ultimately chose to "follow [his] heart" and propose.

As he knelt down, he expressed, "My heart is certain that you are incredible, you are exactly what I've been searching for. I truly envision a future with you and I am not just falling in love, I am deeply in love with you. With that being said, Kat, will you marry me?"
In season 9, Aaron Bryant and Eliza Isichei and Kylee Russell and Aven Jones also ended up together, but their relationships have since ended.
